Bushit!

I got this in an email today and thought it was funny:

Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him,
a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him,
a good guy when Cheney did business with him
and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin
Laden" diversion.

Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is
communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital
to a spirit of international harmony.

A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own
body, but multinational corporations can make
decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

Jesus loves you and shares your hatred of homosexuals
and Hillary Clinton.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise
the troops in speeches while slashing veterans'
benefits and combat pay.

If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't
have sex.

Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy.
Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.

HMO's and insurance companies have the best interests
of the public at heart.

Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk
science but creationism should be taught in schools.

A president lying about an extramarital affair is an
impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist
support for a war in which thousands die is solid
defense policy.

Government should limit itself to the powers named in
the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages
and censoring the Internet.

The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle
trades, but George Bush's cocaine conviction is none
of our business.

Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime,
unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an
illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960's is of vital
national interest, but what Bush did in the '80's is
irrelevant.

He was the lesser of two evils, then when he invaded Kuwait he was a good excuse to invade, I didn't know Cheney did business with him after that, but he was still a bad guy.

Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is
communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital
to a spirit of international harmony.
Cuba isn't on the blacklist simply because they are commie, but mainly because they are too close to us and threatening the Monroe Doctrine, as well as threatening us...

A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own
body, but multinational corporations can make
decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.
Women can be trusted with her own body, just not when it comes to killing a baby that's inside her own body. Corporations are the puppetmasters of politicians, ALL politicians.

Jesus loves you and shares your hatred of homosexuals
and Hillary Clinton.
Jesus hates no one.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise
the troops in speeches while slashing veterans'
benefits and combat pay.
Another reason that I hate politicians. All politicians.

If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't
have sex.
Adolescents will have sex. Condoms don't need to be handed out in elementry school though.

Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy.
Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.
How about making all people responsible for their own welfare, instead of relying on a corrupt and inefficiant government?

HMO's and insurance companies have the best interests
of the public at heart.
Corporations have never had anyone but their own best interests in mind.

Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk
science but creationism should be taught in schools.
Global warming cannot be linked to Fossil fuels alone. Evolution IS junk science at best. No one says that creationism MUST be taught, but for heavens sakes, let the door remain open, especially when Evolution is taught as fact.

A president lying about an extramarital affair is an
impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist
support for a war in which thousands die is solid
defense policy.
Bush never LIED. There WERE WMD's in Iraq. It would stand to reason that they were still there. Is it that hard to believe they're still there? Nobody said it's solid defense policy, either. And yes, banging an intern in the oval office and screwing her with a cigar should have gotten Clinton impeached...

Government should limit itself to the powers named in
the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages
and censoring the Internet.
Gay marriage is banned in the constitution, when you calculate that the founders would never have allowed it. Gay marriage is the stupidest idea ever.... this country is going down.

The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle
trades, but George Bush's cocaine conviction is none
of our business.
Who cares about either of these? Get a life....

Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime,
unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an
illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.
Again, get a life. No one cares either way, everyone big in government and hollywood does drugs....

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960's is of vital
national interest, but what Bush did in the '80's is
irrelevant.
More partisan politics... Get a life.

OK, allow me to add my own thoughts into the matter:

a good guy when Cheney did business with him
and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin
Laden" diversion. This might be a little exaggerated for impact purposes, but it's basically true. Cheney (as CEO of Halliburton) did all the oil reconstruction in Kuwait and Iraq post-Gulf War I. The company not only made money from the Kuwaiti and Iraqi governments, but they also received money from the U.S. government in tax relief and financial incentives. We all paid for that all because Bush backstabbed Saddam in the hopes of driving his image up. Remember, he was known as the wimp President until he attacked Iraq and invaded Panama (another B.S. move by the wimp President).

Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is
communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital
to a spirit of international harmony. The reason we don't trade with Cuba is because nobody has the balls to remove the embargo. The Cuban exile population in Florida is huge and everyone knows that you need Florida to be able to win a Presidential election. The Cuban lobby is worse than the Jewish lobby ever was. Cuba is not a threat to us in any way, financial or militarily. Yes, Cuba was once allied with the Soviet Union (out of pure necessity) and had ICBMs only 90 miles south of Florida. That much is true, but ICBMs would've reached the U.S. only 20 minutes later had they been launched from Siberia and flown over the North Pole (assuming Washington D.C. was the target). Not much time to do anything. So, the threat they presented was more of a strategic and psychological threat in the early 60's and have since been no threat to the U.S. in any way. Actually, trade with Cuba would be very good for the U.S. but the Cuban expatriates are too hateful of Fidel for it to happen anytime soon.

A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own
body, but multinational corporations can make
decisions affecting all mankind without regulation. This is more a stab at deregulation which I actually support. I think that in a Capitalistic society, corporations should be allowed to operate with as few regulations as possible. I'm not saying there shouldn't be laws to protect the consumers, but markets are mostly self-regulating if allowed enough freedom. As for the abortion thing, I totally agree with a woman making the choice she thinks best mainly because I do not consider a fetus to be a alive.

Jesus loves you and shares your hatred of homosexuals
and Hillary Clinton. Let's face it, most Christians despise homosexuals. I don't know why because Jesus would've accepted them and told us not to judge them here on Earth because that's God's job up in Heaven.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise
the troops in speeches while slashing veterans'
benefits and combat pay. Can anyone argue on this one? Veterans are getting the shit end of the stick while politicians do nothing but say that we need to support our troops and thank our veterans. More hypocrisy from the group that sticks it to you every chance they get.

If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't
have sex. Condoms don't encourage sex any more than Windex encourages cleaning bathroom mirrors. Just because it's available doesn't mean that people are going to have more sex. It only means that people who do decide to have sex will do so more safely. I'm all for giving condoms to teens as a public health issue.

Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy.
Providing health care to all Americans is socialism. More b.s.? Youbetcha! It is true that providing Americans with health care is socialism, however. My fix? Make it a law that anyone who works at least 20 hours a week for a company must be provided health insurance by their employer. Why should the government have to run with the check on this one?

HMO's and insurance companies have the best interests
of the public at heart. Riiiiight! And I'm Mickey Mouse!

Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk
science but creationism should be taught in schools. There is no debate among scientists that our pollutants are helping the environment become warmer. There is disagreement, however, as to the amount of influence these chemicals are having. Some scientists believe they're minimal while some scientists believe that they are a major factor. However, nobody can argue that by polluting our environment we are trapping more heat near the Earth's surface. Do you know that while the Earth's average temperature has increased 1.5 degrees F in the last 100 years, Alaska's temperature has increased by almost 6 degrees F? Why? Because, as the ice melts, it exposes the darker ground underneath which does not reflect sunlight away from the Earth and actually traps heat which leads to more ice melting and higher temperatures. It's a self-sustaining cycle. Everyone knows that white reflects heat while black absorbs it. It's common knowledge. Well, the less ice we have (white) the more land exposed we get (black) and the hotter it gets. You might not think that 5 degrees is much of a difference, but the weather that accompanies this is usually severe. Remember, the average temperature during the last ice age was only 15 degrees below what it is now. That means that the Earth only needed to cool down about 15 degrees, on average, for Ice to cover over half the northern hemisphere. Now think about how an extra 5 degrees of heat can wreak havoc on our existence. By the way, I decided to add a few pictures for you guys to see the difference those 5 degrees have made in Alaska:

This is Alaska in 1941:

This is the same place in 2004:

Also, this is another picture of Alaska in 1899:

And the same place in 2003:

Still think global warming is junk science?

A president lying about an extramarital affair is an
impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist
support for a war in which thousands die is solid
defense policy. I think any deliberate lie from our President is enough to impeach. It doesn't matter what he lied about, it's just that he lied.

Government should limit itself to the powers named in
the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages
and censoring the Internet. The Constitution does not ban gay marriages! I'm tired of people saying that our Founding Fathers would be against them and it's implied in our Constitution as they wrote it. Well, let me tell you something about our Founding Fathers: Washington was known to be a pedophile. Yes, he had sex with little boys. Ever hear of the drummer boys in the Revolutionary Army? Look it up. I think men of the Enlightenment would not be opposed to gay marriage. Anyone who studies history or philosophy, and has read the likes of Locke, Voltaire, and Rousseau (those who influenced our Founding Fathers) would know that the Age of Reason and the Age of Enlightenment brought people away from traditional religious dogmas and opened them up to new ideas, homosexuality being one of them.

The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle
trades, but George Bush's cocaine conviction is none
of our business. They're all relevant as character is very important.

Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime,
unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an
illness and you need our prayers for your recovery. Whatever. I'm not against drugs so who cares?

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960's is of vital
national interest, but what Bush did in the '80's is
irrelevant. Again, your past actions are our best tool to predict what you will do in the future. Character is very important.

Global Warming is nothing but Fear Mongering. There is NO SCIENTIFIC PROOF that we are creating the warming of the Earth. A bunch of scientists got together used a crappy computer model and picked one aspect of the earth's environment and came up with these extreme calculations and answers. What they fail to tell you is that the earth's atmosphere and environmental cycles all work together. It is such a complex system that no one has figured it out. Everything you are hearing is pure speculation. No one can prove anything and the more they find out about what narture is doing only adds more head scratching.

Take for instance that the Earth goes through weather cycles that happen over millions of years. They say we are goign through the end of the ice age and that the temp rising really isn't as extreme as every one is saying.

Take these facts for instance.

They just found out that trees release vast amounts of methane gas into the air, also volcanoes release toxic gases that out wiegh the amount we people release in a year. Yet they don't find any "holes" above these areas......hmmmmm, ponder that one.

I am sorry but everytime I hear about this issue/debate it bothers me that people would buy into the fear tactics set by corporations and gov'ts. I do believe that we maybe accelerating something going on with our environment but I am not going to believe some "scientists" that say they have the answers when they really don't. Openminded views stray away from ignorance.

The only thing that gets me about the whole "global warming" thing is that there is no evidence that we are doing anything. The earth may very well be getting warmer... so what? No evidence that we are doing it. The industrial revolution polluted the earth HORRIBLY, yet there was no global warming with that... in fact, in the 1970's, the scientific community was in a panicked state because of global COOLING, worrying about a new ice age that we are bringing on.

The fact is that the earth goes on in cycles... cooling, warming, and we piddly little humans with out 70 year life cycles can't possibly understand that the earth have far longer cycles than we are used to. We're used to 24 hour cycles, 365 day cycles.... we aren't really aware of 500 year cycles or cooling and warming. Mammoths were found in Siberia, with tropical vegitation in their stomachs. Daisies were found buried in ice in the artic circle. I wonder if the cavemen were worried about "global warming" back in those days?

EXACTLY!!! And smoking doesn't in fact cause cancer! And drunk driving is not really all that dangerous! No scientific evidence whatsoever!!

And street-racing doesn't really kill anyone at all! The number is so negligible, more people probably die from bicycling on city streets! No evidence whatsoever!

These are different subjects, you can't compare them to human deaths. Come on man......There have been PROVEN scientific studies, whereas Global Warming & the Earth's Climate is too complex to study. There has been PROOF that it is too complex for any computer or scientist to figure out. And as each day passes it gets more complex and perplexing to everyone. No one knows what the hell is going on with Mother Nature. No one knows how it all works together. It could be another one of those long lost questions like "what is the meaning of life", "is there a God", "Are we alone or is there life on other planets" you get the idea.

I think my response is mainly aimed at the posters that feel global warming is not evident and that we need not do something about it.

It's not evident until of course people start to die massively from weather. Let's see how many storms blow through the US this year, and then decide whether the storms are evidence enough. Who knows, maybe the moon caused the storm.

I'd bet on global warming as a strong influence though.

The discussion was wether global warming is caused by humans or if it is a natural phenomenon. Storms happen every year during every season. They have been happening since the dawn of time. Don't forget earthquakes, volcanoes.

Just becuase a devastating storm rolls through a well populated area doesn't mean its becuase of Global Warming. To me that seems like and excuse to what the real problem is. Living in areas where you are subject the the wrath of Mother Nature.

Like another person said before, 20 years ago these scientists were saying we were goign througha global cooling and now all of a sudden they change their minds and say "no, actually its global warming. And you are all at fault!!!" BAH!!! Its all bullshit and nothing more then fear mongering.

So what's the point of recycling then? Why do people even do it, if it's only the product of fear-mongering and has no real scientific backing?

But anyways, just to quote you, since I'm off the global warming topic:

fear-mongering, as in like the WMDs that were never found even though the United States, with its world's biggest defence budget, knew exactly where they were to be found?

fear-mongering like the freedom that the starving Iraqis were threatening?

fear-mongering like the Axis of Evil would cause chaos in the entire world?

If anything, it's not those people that want to help the environment that's doing all the fear-mongering; it's those blowing it up in the name of freedom that was threatened by no one.

And spare me the crap about Iraqi people suffering under Saddam... billions of people suffer under the CURRENT Chinese government where the police STILL openfires on demonstrators, and the media is still heavily censored, and we still can't find "democracy" in google-China, and yahoo-china still helps imprison political thinkers, and the military-driven government still threatens to use military force to take over Taiwan (just like Iraq trying to take over Kuwait), where an independent government has been operating since 1940s. Protecting freedom? Spread democracy all over the middle east? Go try the American heroism in China!!

... is my belief.
