It turns out that the U.S. Senate finally passed the legislation on illegal immigrants being felons. to me, this is an aweome thing! i think we are being overwhelmed by illegal immigrants. i have absolutly no problem with immigrants at all, just the illegal ones. the illegal immigrants that are already here and decide to stay have to basically go through an 11 year process to be granted citizenship.
i am sure that many of you who are reading this have been watching the news and saw the protests going on the streets of california and many other states. what i don't understand is why doesn't the INS start asking for peoples' green cards...i would guess that half of those people protesting are illegal! and what pisses me off even more is that they were waving mexican flags and cuban flags, etc...YOU ARE IN AMERICA!! if you want to be here and have rights as an AMERICAN citizen, try waving an AMERICAN flag!!!!! that crap is so contradicting and getting on my nerves that they just need to shut up! if you want to wave your mexican flag or your cuban flag or where ever the hell you are from, go back there and wave it!! look, i don't care if you have pride in your heritage, more power to you but, if you are fighting for citizenship, show that you are proud to be and want to be here.
yes, we are a nation of immirants, i understand that. there is nothing wrong with allowing immigrants in a legal and orderly fashion!! we cannot just open our borders and let everyone in, our economy would go to shit. we could not have healthcare for all of them especially since the immigrants don't have any money to pay for it and i sure as hell am not going to pay for it either.
i could go on but i won't until i hear from everyone else. but i leave you with this, i think it is a good thing the legislation was passed and i say get all of the illegals out and welcome the legals!!
yea. i totally agree with u. i go to walmart pretty often and some of the employees there dont even speak damn english. i mean, wtf r u trying to do in this coutry if u cant even comunicate with an american but ur own ppl? it seems to me that america is taken over by the incoming amounts of illegal immigrants that dont do anything to learn the language that should be their 1st priority. it fukin pisses me off. ive came here from europe 5 years ago and learning the language was crucial to me even though my national language is spoken inside the house. all it takes is listening and comprehending. i understand its harder for ppl over 30 and my parents are an example here. they're trying but its their aged mind they're fighting with. thats just talking about the knowledge of the language that should be strictly enforced here in america. i remember the time when i had an interview for my citizenship and what was ridiculous is that ive seen many ppl there that had so much hard time speaking english and despite that they still got granted with the citizenship. had to add my 2 cents here. props for the maker of the thread
that is a good point on the language too!!
english is the language of business and you should learn it when you come to live in the business leader of the world. it annoys me that we have different languages on products in grocery stores. what is that all about? after the age of 13 it is 10 times harder to learn a second language and i understand that difficulty, i just don't like it that if i am trying to get a job and i don't have spanish under my belt then they may pass me buy for someone that does have spanish under theirs. i think Bush should make engilsh as the national language. it is great that you speak your own language in your own home, you keep with your heritage and keep it alive and i am for that and i am not directing that at you, 'you' is just a definitive term for the general public. i don't want to have to break a language barrier when i am buying goods at a store or getting my car fixed or whatever my avenue of business is.
^uve been repped. yea.. the shit in stores is annoying. its like encouraging those from the south no to learn english cuz they got slogans in every store just for themselves. i mean c'mon.
i don't understand how people can be pro-illegal immigration... nothing like flooding the market with cheap labor to bring salaries down for everyone! they come here to do services, even though this nation is mostly service industry! gtfo!
i'd rep the senate 1000 times if i could.

i was wondering if i was the only one thinkin that haha
they may be in our homes and cutting our grass but you know what, AMERICANS can do that job just as well and I would trust my children with someone who has credentials than someone without! and yes, they are taking away jobs for americans! okay, so they may be doing jobs most americans don't want to do but we can start an organization to take homeless people and give them those jobs, that way we would not have so many homeless as well as not having such a low unemployment rate.
I agree in principle that immigration should be regulated... even more so than it is now. I think the problem with making "illegal" immigrants felons is the impact on the prison system. If we instantly make over 12 million people felons, where are we going to put them... even a fraction of that number would quickly overwhelm our prisons. Since deportation isn't an instant process and it takes a bit of time to build a case where are we going to put all of the new felons?
**EDIT: Why isn't this on the major news channels?

well, it's not so big a deal to me that they are taking jobs. that's a different story. it's the fact that they do the services for so much cheaper, meaning anyone in that field already will lose work to someone that will work for 1/2 the salary. it's the same reason so many manufacturers outsource their labor to other countries... basically the same thing, except the work stays here and they hop the border.
as for making them felons, well it's more of the fact that at least SOMEBODY in washington thinks that it is not ok for them to just come here. obviously, it won't make any difference, because they will still be put on a bus and sent to mexico i'd bet.. but at least it's showing that they are not pro-open borders. maybe.
yeah, i understand they are doing it for 1/2 the price and that sucks really bad. what i don't know is that if we make them legal, are we still getting around that problem of 1/2 price labor? they can still do jobs that do not require taxes to be filed (i.e. mowing lawns, day care, home improvement, etc...) and get away with it. i don't know if there is a true way of getting around that issue.
i agree on everything about the bill except for the part about making is a felony. the bill also states that people that are haboring an illegal immigrant will also be convicted as felons. a felony isn't just a slap on the wrist, it's a serious crime and if some of these people that are labeled as convicted felons decide to get their citizenship legally one day and find a job that requires a background check, they're SOL.
I was listening to the radio on the way to school today and one of the station employees was interviewing these high school kids that were skipping school to protest the bill. The kid had absolutely no idea what he was protesting about and all they could say was stuff about how the bill was bad and that they had family members that were illegal immigrants. The news was also showing scenes from a high school protest where a bunch of kids were cheering "MEXICO" or "MEXICO PRIDE".... my all time favorite quote was when a kid said "this place used to be mexico and we're gonna take it back." notice how clueless he is about the main issue.
I strongly feel that people should know what they are talking about before they go out on the street and wave non-american flags against illegal immigration.
that is funny, the are protesting and they are not even informed! they probably thought they could get the day off and say they had a part in it.
it is a good thing though that persons invovled with illegal immigrants and illegals themselves will become felons. indeed we cannot house them all in our prisons, partly b/c they are already over populated as is but we inadvertantly be paying for them to be here. prison should not be an option for the illegal immigrant...just straight deportation!!
