This is a very large and succesful company that wants more money. They dont want their crazy 3rd cousin bombing the place any more than we do. The major theory I tend to believe on this is this is a way for republicans to seperate from Bush and his 40% ratings just b4 the elections. The other theory is that terrorism really isnt that pervasive but Bush needed us to believe all muslims are potential terrorists in order to get people like me to vote for him.

yes i have. so what. my step brothers and sisters are Islamic too. what of it? i know the difference between random white people and random brown people. i also know the difference between a country i trust to help protect our borders and a country i don't trust.

You don't see it Majinb. The president has run unchecked for so long now. No boot can be put anywhere. Republicans have the house and senate locked up right now and have elections coming up. Guys like Rick Santorum who nearly never side on the other side of the president now have a way to say they are not puppets while still looking like they are hard on terrorism. This also gives all the pro-choice Republicans ammo against everyone who says they are Bush's puppet for not rejecting Alito. Republicans want to get away from Bush right now. This is a foreign company. There are no laws limiting his spying. I believe Bush knows this company better than the companies owners. He will veto anything Congress does. We will all forget about it by next January and Republicans will look like they all have their own minds.

im willing to bet money that they will draw up a bill so quick about outsourcing to foregn countries to protect our borders its not even funny. they will ban it and fire the UAE from the job. and if bush vetos it, they WILL override it. congress has had enough of his idiocity
Bush already said he will veto it. So it allows Republicans to look like they can think for themselves. They can run around for a week looking like they are great leaders then bam its vetoed.

See, you haven't done your research. Of the 6 ports in the New Jersey/New York port area, none are run by American companies. Two are run by China, three by the Dutch, and the last one was a 50-50 partnership between the Dutch and a British company that just sold out to the UAE company. Where are the American companies you speak of?
The people who work there, the security gurards and longshoreman, are all Americans, yes, but the companies that run the operations are foreign. What's the difference between China and UAE running it?

That would make sense, except that Saudi Arabia and many other nations, although they may have a ton of money, haven't exactly adopted the western style of life where money can buy your happiness, and where we can be tolerant of another's views.
Porn is an abomination to them. Sex is something you don't talk about. Toilet paper is unheard of. If you go to their house and say "wow, I like your ____", then they will present that to you as a gift. Different culture. And the American way of life is shared by very few of them, mainly the ones at the very very very top who own Harleys and palaces and castles on the french riviera. THEY are the ones that make it appear that Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Turkey, Kuwait and Iraq are our allies. It's true that some of the populace of those places doesn't care all that much, not all of them are radical, but you don't have to be radical to hate the "tolerant" and exessive american lifestyle.
I highly doubt that everyone in this company really cares to make profits for this country that has billions of dollars in oil revenues already...
