I thought the same thing until I started working for my current employer. I see Illegals who do piece work in fields paying pay roll taxes all day long.
As much as I hate illegal immigration, I still feel that the illegal immigrants couldnt be any worse than the people here legally, both natives to the us AND immigrants
if america was really trying to get rid of illegal immigration involving border hopping, build a dam wall or shot on sight for traspassing on US property.
illegals arent any worse or better than people that live here, but people that live here have a social security number & a birth certificate - 2 things that, at least, make a person "exist". this is problemo numero uno.
scenario - illegals come to your town. they drive without a license/insurance. they hit one of your family members, totalling their car as well as the illegals' vehicle. your family member has a broken back and will eat from a tube the rest of his/her life. the illegals are sent back to mexico. end of story. sounds like fun?! no justice and no compensation.
it's really a pointless topic, because illegal immigration can't be stopped any more than the illegal drug importation. i hate illegal immigrants. yea, i hate them.
When I had my EX Coupe, I've been rear-ended 3 times......and those 3 drivers were all illegal immigrants. If you work or live in downtown Los Angeles (i'm not talking about the executive suits but everyone else) everyone who owns a store or business has illegal immigrant employees. Business' like Roofers, Contractors, Painters and etc. I feel sorry for some of these guys because I've known plenty who stay out of ppls ways, work harder than anyone else just to keep their alive. But there are bad apples too.
Again, if the gov't wanted to get rid of aliens then they already would have.

We have a bigger problem with legal immigrants coming here and sponging off uncle sam!
We have bigger problems with illegal immigrants sponging off "uncle sam" rather than legal immigrants. Hospitals in Arizona, California and other border states are actually going out of business and closing down because they cannot afford the extreme costs of handing out free care to illegals.

The immigrant will probably still get the worse part of the deal... You have to see it from their point of view. It's so sad that few people really have seen where the illegal aliens come from. Imagine living in a single room shack made from cardboard and scrap pieces of wood. No floor, only dirt and mud whenever it rains. You walk outside and are immediately surrounded by mountains of trash. For water you have to wait until a government truck comes and you can fill a bucket. Forget about electricity, forget about gas... these people don't even dream about these things. It's dinner time, if you're lucky and worked hard enough, you probably bought tortillas, rice, and beans. For "coffee" you take a burnt tortilla, mash it into pieces and mix it with water. Then someone comes and offers to get you to the US, even though it costs all of your family's life savings. Should you stay or leave?
Most of the immigrants are just trying to help their families... Things like these happen in many countries, not just the US. They work very hard, something many americans have forgotten. That is probably the reason many farms and construction jobs hire them. On top of everything they are good people, not thugs. They just look like thugs sometimes. If they all dissapeared the economy would most probably become a disaster. Learn to live with the situation, inform yourselves, and make your own opinions, not something you heard from a sick rancher in arizona who shoots immigrants. Or from some redneck who simply "feels" they are going to take his job away.
Seeing the situation around the world it's probably time for a reissue of John Lennon's "Imagine".
