I don't care who authorized it, it's a great idea. If the president, no matter who, authorizes the wiretaps on 30-500 known potential terrorists, then I'm all for it. That's the only issue here, because lets face it, no one besides terrorists is being wiretapped.
I heard a LOT of idiots the past few weeks saying that they are going to get spied on because they hate Bush. I don't know think people that stupid deserve to have a telephone. Nobody, certainly not the government, cares if they attended an anti-war protest, wrote "I hate Bush" in a chatroom, or talked about how they want to impeach him over the phone. If someone thinks that law-abiding american citizens are being tapped, then you're stupid. If someone thinks that some non-law-abiding american citizens are being tapped, and the government cares about your crack habit, affair with a 16 year old girl, or money-laundering sidejob... you're stupid too. This program is going after terrorists. Dirty-bomb planning terrorists, terrorists that have their number on Bin-Laden's speed dial, terrorists that want to blow up a bridge. What is the problem with that?
