MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!!! That's right, I went there. And yes after all this argument I do believe that if you have a problem with someone saying that, then you should live somewhere there is no chance of hearing it, NOT HERE. I could care less what religion you are, but when you try to sway the government into changing WHAT THIS COUNTRY WAS FOUNDED ON (yes, it was I won't argue that point,) then you are intruding and need to leave.
If someone calls you Bert and you like to be called Robert, do you correct them? If a group wants to be called something, then you agree to call them that. For instance, you can call a man who has sex with other men homosexual, gay, ******, queer, etc. Whatever he labels himself as is what you should to. That is respect not political correctness.
It is not complaining all the time. Sometimes there is a general concern or a reason for the "complaining." Without such "complaining" progress would not ensue and we would be a static society. Granted there are people who just "bitch." Although I think political correctness is a joke, respecting others is the main concern. People have different views on political correctness and they don't apply to the entire country or even an entire group. A "black" man up north may prefer to be called "african american," whereas someone else doesn't care what term is used. If you call me a cracker or a honkey, I don't give a rats ass. However, I think what we are trying to get across is respect for the other person and not an assumption about a label whether it be racial or sexual or religious.

Draven, this country WAS NOT founded on christianity! And why does anyone who doesn't mind hearing merry christmas, but doesn't care for the phrase either have to leave? That is a shitty solution shows that you are unwilling to compromise on the matter. It is individuals like yourself that slow progress and change. It also shows that you have NO RESPECT for the people who aren't christian.
Why change though? We never had a problem with this whole issue until recently, which is when everyone seems to pick apart every part of society and life just to get some ****ing attention. Its all BS. I dont think you should leave but you do need to realize that christmas is probably the number one celebrated holiday (right?)

Rob, you are absolutely right. I am unwilling to compromise because I don't see it as "progress," I see it as giving up. Giving up everything this country was built on. Why do we try so hard to appease every special-interest group or minority that complains about this and complains about that. YES, this country was founded on christianity (did I mention I'm not a religious finatic in the smallest sense,) and yes I think that anybody who does not agree or cannot handle the fact that most of the country is christian, and will reflect that, can either deal with it or get the hell out,

Is it even that big of a problem? We had x-mas gifts and cards at my state office that had bible quotes in them. No one said a word. I think this is one of those things that effects 5 ppl. Then Bill O'rielly hears about it and starts screaming that LIBERALS want to light baby jesus' penis on fire and kill christianity. Then ppl who dont care hear about an individual memo written in one bank in ohio so they start acting like its normal. Plain and simple more people will watch tv when you say things like "why does the ACLU hate baby jesus" or "up next hear how christianity is under direct attack by the crazy courts" THIS IS A NON PROBLEM. People say happy holidays because they dont feel like writing personal messages to all their friends and its cheaper to just buy the happy holiday pack and be safe.

It isn't giving up. The majority of the country is White/Caucasian, does that mean black people should to back to Africa? This thought was widely spread during the civil rights movement. This country also was founded by White/Caucasian men. Does that mean everyone else has to leave? Are you having sex? If this country was founded on religion, then it was Puritan/Protestant, which don't beleive premarital sex is a good thing. Did you know that birth control was illegal and looked down upon for many years in this country? Even if you are married and using BC, it still isn't going by what our forefathers said...
Your logic makes no sense. On one hand this country was founded on freedom, yet if people don't agree they have to leave or "deal with it?" It isn't bitching or complaining. It is making a statement about what you believe (or don't believe). Sure, I can live here just fine and "deal with" the saying of merry christmas. But again, I just want respect that when you look at me, you don't assume that I celebrate or believe in Christmas. You would give that respect to a Jew walking by by saying happy hanakah, not Merry Christmas, so give me the same respect.
