i think you are all missing the point. i am not saying i get offended that people are wishing me anything happy...or merry. i dont get angry or pissed off at this. what i am saying is, not everyone is christian...so people should respect that and not wish everyone a merry x-mas. it makes the non-christians feel left out.
If you get mad at Merry Christmas then you should get mad at Happy Holidays. The reason is because it is the Christians who celebrate a Holy Day in December. Jews, Muslims, Wiccans, and most other religions don't celebrate anything around these days so to even mention a celebration is to imply Christianity.
My point: don't say you'd prefer Happy Holidays because it's the same damn thing.

you dig?
Are people supposed to walk around with a sign saying what their religious belief is? Or a name tag saying hello my religion is this. Whether or not Church and state should be together is a different topic but the United States of America was founded on christianity what else do you expect everybody to do? Its tradition, I have respect for other peoples religions but dont bring ours down just because you dont celebrate it.

HELLO!!!
"happy holidays" is non-secular and non-exlusive.
the US was not founded on christianity...the founding fathers might have been christian...or protestant...or whatever sect...but america was not founded as a christian nation.
how am i bringing your religion down?
wishing someone a merry x-mas when they are not christian is like saying "happy b-day" to someone when it isnt their b-day.
I am fine with happy holidays but then again i also say merry christmas. Its a habit and im sure I will die saying that. I am not saying you are bringing down my religion but when people are offended because we say merry christmas or try and put something up celebrating our religion people get offended. If somebody told me happy hanukah hey whatever i will just say you to. Whatever im just a laid back person not to much bothers me, enjoy the holidays everybody

You must have missed my earlier post...
"I even think holiday should be removed and replaced with vacation or day off because holiday implies that it is a "holy day." But whatever...I am against the majority."
Again, I am not offended, but it puts one in an awkward position. That's all.
Imagine if you were in the middle East and they wished you a happy ramadan. Although you welcome the wishes, you do not practice their religion and makes one feel a little uncomfortable.

Yes, let's bitch and get rid of Christmas so that we can all just work through this time of year /sarcasm
I'm not religious by any means, I'm quite the opposite, but people bitching about Merry Christmas can just **** off and go live somewhere else.
I think your reaction is a little uncalled for. No one is "bitching" about Merry Christmas. We are having a debate on whether we feel it should or shouldn't be used. All the comments about getting out of the country are uncalled for. Just because you live somewhere does not mean you have to live by all their rules. If we did, there wouldn't be progress. I guess all the black people should have gone back to Africa during the civil rights movement? I would hope this conversation would lead to better discussion than "stop bitching and get the fvck out."
