why does the iranian government always want to piss someone off? i guess the textbooks in iran are old because hitler doesn't rule germany anymore so i don't know who they're trying to ally themselves with. and btw my parents are both iranian and i go there every summer, so don't think i'm just being ignorant.
Propaganda. You see, by Ahmadinejad saying this, he is hoping that the hard-line people in Iran, who have been segmented of late, will rally behind him. I don't know if he really believes it or not, that's not the issue, the issue is what is he trying to accomplish by saying it. In politics you have to pay more attention to why a person says something than to what he actually says.
The Arabs and Jews probably don't even remember why they hate each other, but only that they always have. Fear and hatred are very powerful uniters and if he can pull his people together (I'm talking about the hard-liners, not just the regular Iranians) he can gain more power. Remember, in Iranian politics, the President is not the most powerful man, the Supreme Leader is (a religious figure).
Anyway, this will only rally the E.U. against Iran gaining Nuclear capabilities. If Germany can accept the Hollocaust, why can't Iran?

Because the best thing that could happen to Iran would be for Israel to attack Iran again. If the jews attack Iran then we will see a war on the scale of 8 days. However Iran's leadership probably thinks they can stand toe to toe with a nuclear super power. If Israel bombs Iran the way they bomb the gaza strip or west bank it would drag down the whole region. Saudi Arabia would be forced to decide between its neighbors or the u.s. and iraq would probably go in to a tail spin. Imagine Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emerites all being forced to pick between the power and money of the U.S. and the E.U. or unite behind a Unified Arab Coalition. Some of the guys over there dont even know what they want. They just know they want something more.
IMO Iran and other smaller nations will contribute to another war in the future. I know not many people beleive in predictions, but nostradamus's prediction of the last anti-christ would come from eastern europe. The thirst for power is what always leads to terror and war. Yup, I've read that Einstein quote several times; however, I think it's a bit short-sighted. The reason is that chemical and biological weapons offer more destruction for less money and are easier to manufacture, transport, and conceal. The future of warfare will not be nuclear weapons, it will be bio/chem weapons. If that is so, it will not stop other wars from using them since infrastructure and capabilities will not be destroyed (hence, not need for sticks and stones).
You want a funny and deep saying? This is an Arabic saying: "My father rode a camel, I ride a car, my son will ride a jet, but his son will ride a camel." They are trying to show how oil is a finite resource that will make them rich while it lasts but, sooner or later, they'll be back to riding camels because the Middle East has nothing more to offer.
Going back to Nostradamus and his "predictions," Iran is not in Eastern Europe, it's in Asia. Nostradamus was nothing more than a charlatan. If you write as vaguely as he did, I bet you that in 400 years people will think you were a prophet, too.

I dont look at him as a prohet. He wrote in poetry and in 3 diff languages to keep himself alive, in fear of persecution. People would have killed him if he wrote clearly. Good point though on chemical weapons, those will be easier to get than nuclear.
Iran is a scary nation. Too scary. However an Israeli strike would not provoke a war between the arabs and the jews.
Arabs in Lebanon, PLO Arabs, and Iran would get warlike. Jordan and Egypt would get upset but probably wouldn't do anything about it. And Israel's armed forces could kick the crap out of all of them at the same time. I doubt Iran would invade Iraq in order to try to take on Israel.
And I doubt Israel would even do some sort of a strike, unless it really came down to the wire.

i would like to take the time to let you all know that Israel has been doing assassinations since they became a country. they WILL kill whoever they think is a leader of anything for any reason. and its not like theses guys don't deserve it. some think its wrong of Israel but i don't. i mean idk. the US. is just now starting to do this.

it's just like how japanese school textbooks don't mention anything about the japanese atrocities to the chinese in world war 2 especially the nanjing massacre....
Some people are just to ignorant in the ways of their own country to understand anything beyond what they are told. But then agian, you have to remember, this is a country who's current leader is a known terriost and killer (from what I hear, so as not to discount the nationality or you personally).
