But sadly, on the streets... no.

P.R. is a nice place to visit, i was surprised at how bad the economy is down there when i was there visiting family. I saw so many poor people living in little sheds and lots of wild dogs running around. But it was cool climbing trees for bannas and coconuts and stuff.

why dont you guys vote to become a state? i mean look at how well it works out for nevada. nevada would be nothing if not for the combined power of the nation. I bet you guys would come out way in the green for taxes. I mean just think lil ol P.R. would have the same # of senators as huge ass california.

Well... that's what smalie25's original post was about.
You see, here we have three different political parties (the one's that really stand out, I men): Theres the PNP (New Progressive Party, pro-statehood), the PIP (Puertorrican Independetist Party, pro-independence), and the PPD (Popular Democratic Party, the one in the middle... don't want statehood nor independece... we just want to be part of the US, but don't want statehood...).
This fight has been going on since 1917, I believe... since the Jones Law was passed...
First it was a dispute over Independence or Statehood... in April 23, 1936 an act was passed to permit Puertorricans to choose either Independence or not (Yes would provide independece without any monitary help forn the US government, no would leave us as what we were).
One of the leaders of the Partido Liberal (Liberal Party... something like the modern PIP), Luis Muñoz Marín, saw that this was an obvious attempt of the US at letting us destroy ourselves, letting them be free of giving us economic help. Therefore he said that he would not accept this voting... with his people behind him.
He then created his own party, the PPD, the one in between...
And the fight has been going on ever since.

I have more info I could share, but I can't right now, I've gotta go to the hospital soooo... I'll post it up when I'm back (if ever...)
My leg hurts... lol

Ok, so... uhm... I went to the hospital. Had to be in bed for three days... ****in illnesses. Ceiba pictures, as promised. This is what was the base up until a few months ago, when it closed. The airport on top was part of the base... the houses where the text is are also part of the base... "Thousands of Residential Houses with touristic potential in Roosevelt Roads" (Roosevelt Roads was the name of the base) Another view... And a map by the US Navy... Forum was a bit ****ed up today... sorry for the errors in this post! Not my fault!

Situation is not the best there, could be worse, but hope it gets better!!
PR is a great place, except when it comes to political issues...
BTW, nice drawing of "El Sol de Jayuya".
