Interesting items I found on CNN.com today;

The survey of gas stations in all 50 states was carried out Friday.

Here are some other average prices for a gallon of self-serve regular:
San Francisco - $2.64
Chicago - $2.52
Denver - $2.40
Atlanta - $2.35
Philadelphia- $2.38
Omaha, Neb. - $2.17
Detroit - $2.23
Honolulu - $2.72

Third: From what I hear, Europe has been paying like $8gal (or even more) for for some time. Count yourself lucky you live in the Untied States, where we do drill some of our OWN Oil and MANUFACTURE some of our own Oil.

Suggestions: By a case of Ky and let your woman practice sticking her foot up your bung-hole, b/c its not getting any better.
There is something the government can do about it. Certain things are necessities (such as heating oil) and the government has the right to regulate them (as they regulate the price of milk, bread, and other foods). Actually, in states of emergency (such as hurricanes), the government can actually freeze gasoline prices. Usually they chose not to, but they can.

Europe pays that much in gas because it all goes to taxes. It's not BP making a huge profit there, it's the government taking the money to improve roads. You don't see tolls in Europe yet the roads are 100X better than they are here. That's where the money goes.

I believe the government shouldn't regulate gas prices, as they should be left up to normal supply/demand curves (and what people are willing to pay for it), but I do believe the governement should intervene in the heating part of it. When it comes to keeping your home at a livable level, you have the right to not get jerked around.

They can.. but like I said, there is really nothing that CAN be done when the Republicans are in the pockets of the Oil and Gas companies.

This is do also agree with... A 50% increase in heating and electric prices this winter will spell certian doom for alot of households.

There was this article on CNN today, about how the Dems where trying to get things done about the Oil and Gas prices and levy hard taxes are the corporations for their giant profit swing, and the Reps where sitting there dragging their feet as normal all the while adding to their check book.

Actually that would be going backwards I think. New tires can cost anywhere between $192 and $344 for tires on stock rims... alot more than it would cost you in gas for your Civic in that two months.

i fill my tank up 2 times a week=200 a month if you double the price to $5/gal . thats 400 a month. so over 2 months i am saving 400 dollars by not being taxed as heavily as europe. i just bought b.f.g. traction ta/t's an hour ago with install mounting and free rotation every 5k miles it was 387 out the door.

so exactlly what are you driving to have to fill up twice a week and do you really drive that far to work.. and gas in the Frisco area should not be more than about $2.64 gal, based on national averages.

Both parties are in the pockets of special interests. Neither party is for the average american. They simply brainwash us into thinking "vote for us, or the other party will get all the political positions and everything will go down the tubes!!!". This way, they can divide the power pretty evenly, and not have to worry about some political party that may come along that actually does what the citizens want.

Take, for instance, the point of California. Our state government is one of the worst in the nation. Recently, we elected a non-politician as our Gov... Arnold Schwarzenegger. He ran on a platform of reform for our out-of-control state government. He has been fighting tooth-and-nail against special interests that have owned our state for years and years. Unions are one of the biggest corruptors of the state, so he introduced two bills, one that rightfully requires Unions to get the permission of it's members before using their dues for political means, one that takes teacher tenure from 2 years to 5 years. Neither of those are huge deals, yet the Unions fought him on it like it was the end of the universe. In addition, he (Arnold) introduced a bill that requires California to have a balanced budget, if something happened to where California was short, the bill would have required that the legislature would have 45 days to fix it, and if nothing happened by that time, the Gov. would have to fix it. IT MAKES SENSE. Finally, he proposed one more bill that appoints a non-partisan panel of judges to draw the state legislature districts, this way the people actually vote for their political representative, instead of the political rep. choosing his own districts so that he never has to worry about getting run out of office.

Nov. 7th, all of these were voted down. Why? Well, basically, the politicians and unions spent like $250 MILLION to defeat these. Democracy is dead in California, if we can't vote for anything to happen, and the Politicians can avoid change, then they stay entrenched in their positions and never EVER have to worry about getting voted out. And they can continue to do whatever they want, regardless of what the voters think. This country is doomed.

Yea I heard about that stuff... really sucks that you get someone in office that wants to make changes and those that have been there for years and are getting the big paydays for looking the other way can make such a difference and basically shut down the state..

Hey Zap, I completely agree with you. Not only is it unfair for the oil tycoons to continue making ridiculous profits at the expense of American's wallets, they continue to hush efforts at alternative fuel R&D. You are completely right in saying that oil is an unrenewable resource. Burning fossil fuels is bad for the environment and all I sense is an apathetic America when it comes to caring about the environment and what burning these fuels does to it. I am an ardent fan of hydrogen power/nuclear power. I believe that these two sources are the future for energy generation/propulsion. I bought my 01 Civic because it is environmentally friendly and because it gets good gas mileage. A car that is EPA and CARB certified is pretty impressive.
