For or against the death penalty and why?

I am for the death penalty because I believe that it is seriously wrong to murder someone and get to live the rest of your life in a cell and be under supervision and secluded to a building. To some that is punishment enough, but I feel that it is exactly what the prisoner wants and isnt punishment at all. I dont feel that being locked up and getting to watch tv and eat 3 meals a day and work is punishment. and I believe that if they kill someone, the same should be done to them.

SO what do you feel about it?

no one has ever thought man i would kill these 5 people but the death penalty is pretty bad so i better not. it costs more to put someone to death than it does to hold them for life. and it doesnt bring anyone back to life. oh yeah its also what the klan did to people its what the nazis did and its what muslim terrorist nations do. why do we want to be in that club?

now if it was death by rocks or guns then maybe it would work. however murder happens most murders are reactions by people who have guns and shouldnt not plans. but if you could get death for child rape i am down. no one has ever been so mad at a kid that they had to put their d in the kid without thinking. i have been in a situation where i thought i had to kill someone or they were gonna kill me. however i have never thought man if i dont bang this kid i am done for. i really think if child molestors/rapist should be killed. i dont think they would go to the park if they knew they would be killed for it.

I agree that it is more expensive to execute some, its around $2 million per execution, but it costs between $20,000-$30,000 a year per inmate to keep them locked up. And figure some prisions have over 1000 prisoners which equals to over $25 million a year for all of the prisoners in that prison. Then figure there are tons of prisons all accross the united states so mulitply that number and you start getting into the billions of dollars each year. When there arent that many people put to death each year. I think in general it costs more to incarcerate someone then to exectue them. I say between $50-$500 million each year in executions.

"God created life in all kinds of ways, he should be the only one to take it away".

Yeah, so God is foremost in my life. Jesus wouldn't advocate putting someone to death, even if it is what they deserve. Hell is a bad enough place already, why hasten anyone's departure to go there?

That's my take.

I beleive that our life belongs to God. Life is not ours to take. We don't even have the right to take our own life, let alone someone elses.

Remember the old saying? "Two wrongs doesn't make a right?".

Listen, I'm the furthest thing from a Bible-thumper you'll ever see, but I have to agree with Zap and Pheaton in their conclusions (allbeit we reach them for a different reason).

Life is intrinsically valuable (as Kant held) and a person's life should never be taken by anyone. I differ from his opinion in that I believe suicide is honorable, but that's a small thing, really. It's a personal decision and I can't blame anyone for taking their own life if they see fit.

Anywho, the death penalty doesn't solve anything. People are more affraid of suffering than of dying. That's why the vision of Hell is so scary to some people. If you tell them they will suffer for a long ass time they are more apt to behave.

We need tougher punishments like castration for rapists and child molesters. If you don't think this will help I will gladly point at the Middle East where fear of having your hand chopped off is the biggest deterrent against theft. If you institure "Cut his D!ck off" punishment for murder I think you'll end up having more people thinking they don't want to lose little jimmy than you would have people stop and think they might get the chair.

Just my .02
