As I understand it, Roe is in essence more of a states' rights issue than it is abortion. It basically takes the right away from states to criminalize abortion. So if it were appealed, it wouldn't mean that abortion would become illegal. In some states it would, but there would be no national ban.
Like I said though, I vaugely remember this being explained to me once. Can anyone confirm this?
