Has anyone experienced hissing/grinding noise when accelerating and stops or mediates when break pad is being pressed? Mine (01 LX) started to make the noise... break issue? OR something bigger?!

change the brake pads. thats what it sounds like. the grinding noise is probably because the brake pad is down to the metal already. so you probably damaged your rotors too. you can get the rotors resurfaced for cheap if they arent damaged badly. or you might have to get new rotors. you need to get new brake pads though. check your brake pads to see if you have any more meat on them.
dude, I had the same problem with my EM2, changed rotors and pads, nothing worked. You got to change hub bearing and all the parts as below - this will help 100%:
