Re: is Ethanol at 10% safe on a 6th generation civic?
ethanol won't cause you to lean out, it does not burn as efficiently as regular gas so you get worse gas mileage. It has an octane rating some were between 105 and 110 so it is starting to pop up at the track more and more. the big problem with running e85 in the hondas is not the the injectors or the engine it's the tank and the fuel pump cause E85 eats through plastic and the gas tanks and stock pump is plastic I know a couple built k-series that only run on e85 the only thing they had to change out was the tank and the stock pump.
crazy note: you pop the head on those cars and the pistons are still shiny from running e85
also if you do run e85 and you are running too rich even thought they are technically two different systems you can soak the oil with e85 same thing can happen with gas if it is too rich but w/ e85 if you soak the oil you have to worry about your valve guide seals and cam seals.
