ive tried K&N a few times (too pricey), used to use oem for a while which was prolly a bad move but oh well, now using napa gold. maybe next time i will try mobil1 since i think our store carries em now.
I use Fram TG I like the media inside, if not Fram TG then Hamp. I use Valvoline Semi-Synthetic 5w30 for now. When I swap or turbo I will flush the system and switch to Eneos 0w-30. Best oil out there pricey but the best.
I use Honda OEM S2000 filter part #15400-PCX-004 ($9.12) or the K&N part# HP-1004 ($12.99) in my 6th gen 2000 Civic EX, and 5th gen 2000 Prelude TypeSH.
If you cut open a FRAM the insides are held together with a cardboard frame that gets broken down by the hot oil.
I use purolator pure 1, they are all metal, have a better capacity for contaminants due to more filter media, and low oil pressure increase. everything you want in a good oil filter. oh, and the valve that stops the contaminants from falling back into your oil pan when engine shut off, also made of metal with a better seal than alot of the competition.
also, highly recommend Esso XD-3 oil. it's a class 4 synthetic available for the price of most class 3's. Very good stuff for all conditions. I have used in 97tercel, 91civic, 90silvia, everything from high mileage to high HP.
I'm still using Mobil 1. I don't have an EM2 anymore but My 07 Si coupe still takes Mobil 1's oil. 5w30. AND a Mobil 1 oil filter. My Si STILL takes Mobil 1's M1-110 oil filter.
