They use a honda blend and I'm only paying $23 for the service, I might change to a synthetic once my mileage gets up there. With only 10,000 miles, I'll stick to the real stuff!
$23... they charge me $14.95 for an oil change, check and top all the fluids and wash the car.

lol... Boston, everything is more expenisve there. I had the most expensive cab ride ever in Boston, it was over $80 just to go from the airport to my hotel that was about 10 miles away. Good thing I didn't pay for it
Normally the delaer price is in the $20's, but if you buy 10 oil changes up front you get that discount, so you have to shell out about $150, but you get 10 oil changes, and with 3 Honda's in the driveway, it gets used.
Welcome to Boston.......would you like a cab? Now bend over and grab your ankles!!!!Sorry bro.......that's boston!
ehh, like I said, I wasn't paying for it But I learned my leason, luckly not at my cost. But yeah, it's a costly city, but San Fransico is by far worse, at least in Boston there are places to get stuff cheap if you look around. I wouldn't want to drive around there though.
i use amsoil pure synthetic 0w-30 severe service engine oil
it costs me about $60 or so per oil change but i dont have to change it for 35,000 miles yes 35k miles...just a filter change at 12,500 miles...many people say the same thing that "they woulda trust it to go that long" but i didnt until i tried it and it was worth it...there was a noticeable power gain and fuel efficiency went up...the engine would have an easier time in higher revs because of the thick oil

I would like to see an oil analisys on that.
Go here http://www.blackstone-labs.com/, it cost $20 to have it done, but I recomend getting the TBN count done which as extra $10.
The problem I have with going 35,000 miles is that 35,000 miles for me is about 2.5 years. I know oil can not go 2.5 years here in Ohio, because we have high sulfur gas and that will catalize the oxidation process making the oil go bad in a few months.

I just check Amsoils webpage, http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/tso.aspx, that specific oil can only last 1 year, which is longer than most oils. So that means I would be changing it every year after only about 10-12,000 miles.
I use amsoil, but I buy it online at ~$5 a quart plus shipping. I could get mobile 1, but I have seen that mobile 1 doesn't hold up as well as amsoil. Some of the oil links in the FAQ have tested amsoil and it comes up consistently at the top. I do 7-7500 miles on my car and 10k on my wifes. I have more miles and I autox so I change mine a little more often. All she does is drive around town.

Yeah, Amsoil is great stuff, better than Mobil 1 for sure, but just hard to get locally. My problem is that in a 6 month period I may only drive 4,000 miles on one car/truck, so then I have to change the oil anyway. Most oils on the market, including most of the Amsoil products are only good for 6 months. But if you are doing that many miles in 6 months, it's certianly a good oil.
to get an oil change with regular oil, costs the same amount of money to do an oil change with synthetic oil and an expensive oil filter if you do it all yourself... i would not use anything else but synthetic, but keep in mind, i plan on having my engine last atleast 200,000 miles. synthetic is just better oil, it will run better at hotter and cold temps and wont break down as easy, its worth the extra money, the little it costs.
I think doing my own oil changes is much cheaper. My wife works at a walmart so I buy the oil there and get 10% off of it. Dealers are 40 miles from me so its too inconvenient to bring the car there. Cost me more in taking time off from work, gas to drive there, and sitting around waiting. My in laws have a lift in their garage and they live 6 miles away. Besides, I like to know that things are done right. =)
