ok so now (i cant remember who) makes oil for 5k, 10k, and 15k before you change it. Anyway even if they state it can go up to so and so miles would it be smart to run oil for that long, 15k is lot of driving i would get nervous leaving my oil unchanged for that long?

If it synthetic, and you don't beat the crap out of your engine, then you can get at least 10k. I usually do it every 7500 but I do autox. My wife's sentra gets an oil change every 10k.

those new mobil oils are not synthetic. they're dinopiss with additives. The oil may last, but you should change the filter more often than 15000 miles.
yeah, for oils that last 15,000 miles (i'd think synthetic will be better, as their TBN number is always higher than dino oils), you should still change the filter at every 7500 or so.

The oil that Mobil is marketing as a 15,000 mile oil, is a full synthetic. The 5000 and 7500 are the dinopiss.
Well then why bother with the 15000 oil? They've been advertising Mobil 1 to go that long forever. Delvac 1, the fleet vehicle/heavy truck stuff... will go for 20000 or more.
Marketing, that's why. The public at large had shied away from synthetic oils because they aren't aware of the extended drain benefits. Now by calling oils "Super Clean 5000" or "Super Duper Protect 10,000", Joe Schmo becomes instantly aware of how far the oils can go.
Doesn't Honda recommend oil filter changes every other oil change? I don't exactly believe that, I mean if I'm going to take the time I might as well change everything, but if that's the case I doubt anyone would see a problem getting 10K+ out of a filter.
