they aren't, what are you doing to your car to make it need additives? unless you're surprised that your car has made it as far as it has, additives won't do squat, its just a sugar pill. I refuse to put any of that garbage in my car.

some addatives are better than others. and everyone (even those who use premium) can benefit from using a cleaner addative into your fuel every so often.
and no, don't use premium unless your car requires it. it does more harm than good. SOME premium gas (like chevron) puts a bit more addatives in to help keep the system a bit more clean, but it's not worth it, as putting premium in a car that doesn't require it is counter-productive to the cleaning agents.
