If you do 3k of continous tracking racing in a civic, you probably need to change alot more than just the oil.
But no, those are not normal conditions. You are creating alot of heat and the car is not continously going fast enough to cool the bottom of the engine, the oil will start to break down much quicker, hence one reason why high way driving can go far longer per oil change. But trakc cars are continously being pushed to the limits, and hence everything will break down at an accelerated rate. But if you do 3k worth of track racing, you probably already know this, and you alreayd know when to change your oil
The real answer is: get your oil tested if you track race that much. Check things like the TBN and all that.

I have a '04 HCH, which I put more than 35k miles per year on. I change it at 10k. The dealer did the first three and I will do them from here on in. I am changing to full 0w-20 synthetic at 40k.
The manual says 10k unless you run under harsh conditions. I run my HCH 120 every working day, 70 miles on interstate 40 on country roads, 10 on light city highways. On a good day, I may stop three times on the way to work.
BTW, I have a lmpg of 51.6 and currently get 58+ mpg and 700+ mile range.

Why do you want to switch to 0w-20? If you live in cold climate, then you may want to do this during the winter months, but I wouldn't recomend it.
Ay man, I slipped and had too much on my mind the last few months! I went 12,000 miles without an oil change. I changed at 12,000 miles...no extreme driving...just city/highway...I hope I am alright...I usually change at 5,000-7,000 miles....I used a oem honda oil filter and castrol 5w/20 this time.

Does anyone wait until 10,000 miles to change their oil? I usually change at 5,000, but I have gone 7500 this time and wondering...I checked the oil , there is still plenty of oil in and it is very clean...wait till 10,000 like the manual says?
You can't go wrong with changing your oil and filter every 3,000-miles. I would NEVER run oil for 10,000-miles nor would I let it go for 7,500. I've seen what happens to the reciprocating parts of an engine that is neglected with poor oil change habits. It's not worth the hassle to replace a trashed motor that could have been prevented by regular oil changes at 3-month/3,000-mile intervals.
Don't forget about your trans fluid (either manual or auto)! I'd change that every 15,000 miles just to be safe.
