mine is an si-g automatic

my car is rated 8.2L/100km city and 6.1L/100km hwy...

i used to average 10L/100km but it has recently gotten better...the last time i filled up, i calculated 8.3L/100km with a mix of city and hwy...not bad...i hope it stays like this.

some people were telling me about how their 6th gens took 10,000-15,000kms before they started getting good gas milage...i wonder why it takes that long. does the ecu automatically turn on some gas saving mode after 15,000km?

It can take up to 20k miles to fully break in the engine. The ecu is always calculating the optimal air/fuel mixture for good mileage. Air comes in, then fuel is added, and the results are logged by the O2 sensor. Then adjustments are made based on the "success" of combustion. That's one reason the ecu is so restrictive on our cars. The odbII is basically in charge of the car, and there's only so much you can do before it just corrects itself again. That's why boltons aren't as good at making power on our cars.

Hello gearbox. Im here for another mpg status report Im glad you were finally getting 37mpg on the freeway.

Here's my latest report after some of the bolt-on mods. Still not bad...

1. 4-1 header
2. hi-flow randomtech cat
3. cat-back exhaust
4. lowered to a finger gap
5. 215/45-17 (41lbs each wheel with tires)
6. Front passenger is 110lbs
7. Tires are inflated 36psi all around
8. M/T btw

37mpg on a 380mile trip and 3/4 of the time the A/C is on at 80mph.

I got 42mpg the last time I hardly turn my A/C on at 70mph.

well it seems almost 50/50. some are getting good gas mileage, some aren't. I'm still averaging 600km every fill up with exhaust and k&n drop in.
