I'm just wondering what Civic owners who have put on at least 300K miles do for oil changes. How often do you change your oil?
If you have a particular oil that you like to use, or anything other than a stock filter, feel free to elaborate.
Mine has gone 185,000 miles. I'd like to take it up to 300K if I can.
If you have had to rebuild the engine, please say so, but if your car has gone 300K, then you're still part of the club.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

We service a 97 Accord (manual trans) that has about 450,000ish miles on it. Owner bought it new and drives maybe about 100 miles round trip each day to work.
See it about every other month for an oil change and whatever services it needs.
100 mi x 21 days per month = 2100 mi
2100 x 12 months = 25,200/year
25,200 x about 18 years = a buttload of miles
The other day we looked into the cars history, the amount of money spent on maintenance and services at our shop are about equal to the cost of the car when it was new.

As far as maintenance costs equaling the cost of the new car, at first I thought that was excessive. But then I realized that over 450K, you can rack up a lot of tires and breaks and belts, plus an occasional actual repair in the rare event that one of these Hondas actually breaks down.
