Rep Power: 0 Failed o2 sensor at 55k miles ('04 civic)
Hi, i've got an '04 civic EX that has the engine light on, which i ran on my buddies computer, and it read failed o2 sensor. I guess we didn't check which one it was, but normally my buddy said the one before the cat goes first right?
Anyways... i went to nearest pep boys, napa, or whatever, and lowest quoted price was $220. Now, i'm looking online and i see a universal one...
http://www.car-stuff.com/carparts/ho...sos-30001.html
for $33.
Would this work? or is there a link to cheapest one possible that will work before the cat on my '04 civic?
Thanks.

DO NOT get aftermarket sensors...we get cars in all the time with aftermarket sensors that go bad. Our Honda systems are very sensitive. Pay the extra money for the OEM HO2S!!!!!!!!!!! or pay alot more later

1986-2009 that doesnt even make sense..after 2001 I believe the o2 sensors are different. Example being that only has two wires and yours has four. Call and ask if you do decide to buy that one to double check.

OEMs are like $200..I hear alot of different things about get OEM..or that you can buy aftermarkets or whatever the case is.. I personally went OEM but if you dont have the cash its not an option. Also make sure you get the right O2 sensor there is upstream and downstream.

Wideband for the loss, the sensors are way more expensive.
When you pull the code it will says Bank 1 or Bank 2.. bank one is primary and bank 2 is secondary. The code when you pull it will say. Dont replace one till you know which one it is, kuz that'd be super dumb to replace one thats not needed to be replaced- you cant return a used sensor.

The same thing just happened to me, I got the check engine light, and it turns out my exhaust mani is cracked. You might want to check if yours is too, my buddy also just found out his exhaust mani is cracked on his 04 too. . . you can tell because it makes a rattling sound too.

they usually fail together. but 50k is a bit early. 04-05 civics use expensive wideband sensor. i replaced my 02 civic sensors with bosch at 80k for maybe $50 and $80 each?

i never hear of O2 sensors failing together? on a civic, a code is pulled..itll either be Bank1 or Bank2. Replace the bad sensor, move on.

by together, i meant between 5-10k miles apart. the primary and secondary sensors both have the same rated lifespan usually 80k miles.

i repalced both censors when it said mine failed at 74k miles costed $390
sucked to find out that first the code said it was o2 censor failed then there was somethin up with the manifold now im being told to fix it i have to go back to stock cuz i have dc headers.
and the person who had the vic before me wired up the censors incorrectly and its all jacked up not sure wut to do
ya censors are expensive!!!!
