Self-locking tray below radio - 2003 DX - how does one unlock that?

Please disregard this (non) issue. My 2003 Civic DX (just bought used) came with a replacement radio that I'm swapping out with a OEM radio. This new radio came with the 2-piece trim fascia that includes what I guess is a storage compartment for CDs. It has a door. My original was a one-piece and the CD compartment (if that's what it is) had no door.

I thought that door had a locking mechanism, that I see now must be meant to engage when the car is at so steep an angle that things, if heavy enough, will want to force the door open and fall out.

Because I don't have the OEM radio bracket (on order), I just put things in pace as is. The radio stays in place by gravity, but when I then put the CD compartment in, that locking mechanism rubbed against the underside of the radio causing it to engage.

Live and learn. I took the compartment out and reinstalled with the door open. It now works as it should. Thanks!
