Check out this diy, it'll show u how to remove the silver ring. It's actually held down by a ziptie from the inside of the boot.

I have my MOMO knob taped on to the silver ring right now, but I ordered the adapter for it to fit into the ring...should be getting it any day now. Hopefully the MOMO knob fits into the adapter.

Think I might go do that so I don't have to use electrical tape around my shifter.

My Grex shiftknob didn't fit with the adapter so I had to widen the hole of the adapter. Looks good though.

Yes it did fit...well, the shift knob doesnt actually connect to the adaptor. It sort of just 'sits' on it...but the knob is on tight enough that nothing moves....came out better than i thought so im really happy with it...

The adapter connects to the silver ring itself...therefore: no silver ring = no adapter
But it does hold the boot up, which is the whole point of the adapter, i would think....

Here's another easy fix that will only cost one zip tie:
1. Remove silver piece from shift boot by cutting small zip tie underneath
2. After removing silver ring lower center consule and replace shifter
3. Lift center consule and pull shift boot against shift lever and underneath shift knob
4. Zip tie boot to shift lever
5. Lower center consule
Now your boot will sit against the bottom of the shifter. It will not slide down either if you zip tie tight enough as the bar get larger as you slide down and the zip tie can't.
