Door panel - arm rest
So I'm up for suggestions on this one. My interior is black.
When I bought my car, I noticed the previous owner painted the arm rest control panels silver. The idiot must have realized how stupid it looked and that it fades, so he did not paint anything else.
My question is: Should I sand it down, and re-seal it while replacing the door panel fabric? Do you think it will come out looking right?
or
Should I buy a cheap black matte panel cover with an adhesive backing?
OR
Should I just buy a whole new arm rest panel all together?
Thanks for any suggestions I am pondering this one daily, it bothers me when I look at it. To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

Re: Door panel - arm rest
I seriously think people are drunk when they come up with ideas like that....it's too bad he did that. Here's a picture of my door after putting new fabric on it, I can't comment on the painted armrest until I see pictures. See how you like it:
I've since replaced it again with much nicer fabric, here's the after shot:

Dex - Your door panels look really nice.
I think I am going to try to replace the fabrics.
Triz - I will upload pic's after work today. I forgot to consider the differences in models (ex,lx,dx) & interiors.

Re: Door panel - arm rest
If I did the panel cover, it would come from this website since it is fairly cheaper than the others.

It's kind of expensive to buy it for just the two pieces, but it is an option.
Considering I am going to redo the fabric, i might as well sand and reseal it, but with the material, will it come out fugly?

I think it looks good, I'd repaint them silver and make sure to glosscoat the hell out of them so it doesn't fade or get rubbed off.

He didn't paint them silver, they came silver. Mine are silver too and yes they fade.. You can get them in black though.
Dex, you want to redo my door panels, because I did a really shitty job!!

Re: Door panel - arm rest
1 square yard will do about 6 doors.
