Buying a house...

Ok, I want to get my own house. Now I can't really afford a brand new house or a nice decent house. I want to get one before the interest rates go skyrocketing. I've been trying to look for a list for foreclosure houses and police/bank auctions but they all want you to pay a members fee of some kind to get the list or be able to attend the auctions.

Question is is there a website I can go to that will have a listing of these kind of things for free in my area? I'm really leaning towards buying a house that needs TLC because it'll be cheaper and I can fix it up to my liking without worrying about breaking something because its already broke. I will also be a first time home buyer and I heard that the government can help you buy a house or something like that, is that true? Thanks for any help you guys can give.

There should be a multiple listing service in your area. http://www.greaterorlandohomes.com/N...h/Default.aspx

I would suggest getting a real estate agent. They are technically free, but they get paid out of the sale. You don't get money from the government but you don't have to pay some taxes. You will also get a tax break for owning.

BTW my wife and I just signed our papers on June 15th so we are now home owners.
