just hide your money when you feel the urge to buy any, the gum doesn't work cause you will run out and it is more expensive than cigs. My suggestion just find a girl if you don't already have one and tell her you are trying to stop smoking and when you get the urge you are gonna need something in your mouth. Doesn't work for me because sometimes when I mess around I think to myself in the middle, man I really need a smoke. But hey don't listen to me cause I tried 3 times and still smoke.
yeah Jen knows why I need smoking right now. I need some kind of release cause I am an alcoholic and NEED the nicotine right now so I can fight the alcohol urge.
I smoked for 2 years (about 5 packs a week) and just decided to quit. About 2 or 3 weeks ago I decided to see how long I could go without a cigarette. I went all day but I went drinking that night and ended up having a few cigs. The next day I managed to go all day without one. I've smoked about 1 cigarette every 3 days since then. I haven't totally quit but it's the closest i've ever come.
It's hard if you have a lot of friends that smoke. 2 of my best friends smoke like crazy. Whenever they smoke I just walk away or try not to pay attention to them smoking because otherwise I'll want one. Basically if you REALLY want to quit, you'll be able to do it, it just takes a lot of self dicipline. Try to keep yourself busy, because if you are like me, when you are bored all you want to do is smoke. I've bitten off all my nails and have gone through tons of packs of gum, but it's worth it.

I know this sounds Dr. Philish, but start exercising (when you need stress relief go for a walk, lift weights, etc), surround yourself with chewing gum and drink water like a mother. During finals, when stress is high I always drink like 5 gallons of water a day, but it saves my fingernails and preoccupies me. Good luck!
Thanks for the replies guys, i think im gonna try and cut down seriously, only maybe 1-5 a day, and start excercising alot, because i need to get back into shape anyway. so thanks again for all your replies.

My mom smoked for over 20 years. She tried all these goofy methods of replacing cigs with ________ (fill in the blank) and none of it worked. Then, one day, she decided she was really going to quit. So she just stopped. She stopped smoking the ones she had. (Threw them away actually.) She quit buying them. She just stopped.
Yeah my mom just stopped when she found out she was pregnant with my brother, she got the phone call from the doctor and she was in the middle of one. She put it out and hasn't touched one since. (that's about 14 years of smoking and 19 years of being smoke free)
