Well last week I get a letter in the mail saying I have to go to student codes court, because I had a teacher turn me in for academic dishonesty. I had no clue what the hell this was about. So I go in and there is this whole trial hearing thing going on. The teacher said this, "before I walked into the room I heard Mr. Beaty stating his girlfriend wrote his paper for him." Well this part is true to a certain degree. What had happened was I had written my rough draft on note book paper and was to tired to finish and my girlfriend typed it into the computer for me. Well he didn't hear the whole story, but the student code court believes the teachers over the students. So they said bring in the rough draft copy. I told them it was impossible seeing as how I threw it in the trash 2 weeks after I had turned in the actual paper. They said that they had no choice but to dismiss me from the University of Texas at Arlington for one semester, not counting summer semesters. Well now that I have been kicked out because of this *******, I am losing my job that I get paid well at and they pay for my school. I am getting kicked out of my parents house 3 months before I can move into my apartment. Yeah my own parents don't even F^cking believe me. And I won't be able to make car payments because it is almost impossible to find decent jobs in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Area. What should I do? What can I do? Is there any way I can file a lawsuite against my teacher for lost wages and everything?
sorry to hear this, but your teacher is an a$$hole , get revenge. I dont see a way to get out of this, did you Plagiarize or what?? Also your style of writing and your g/f are different so thats why the teacher might detect that $hit. no copying from any book, and no my g/f didn't actually write the paper she copied my rough draft onto the computer for me. So it has nothing to do with styles of writing. It has to do with him not hearing a whole story and f^cking me over.
man when it rains it pours... i say you go back and argue it out... ask ur gf to tell them she only typed it but everything was written before hand... also show them all this other stuff is happening to you like job loss and the job is paying for school. Wrose comes to worse just ask them for an F in the class and ask if you can retake it. Tell them kicking you out for a semester is not just messing up your academics, its also messin up ur personal life so bad that once you are allowed to come back into school, you cant because you dont have the $ or anything. Do the nice thing first. Write some letters, get testimonials to your character, that sort of thing.
If that fails, find an attorney who will look at your case and see if you have a leg to stand on. Then go from there.
To me the raw deal you got sounds like bullshit, esp considering the fact that over half the student work out there now is just stolen from websites and rarely do they care or do anything about that.
That that sucks ass man. The only thing that you really can do is just to fight it, and keep fighting it. You should overwhelm them with so much pressure (letters, testimonials, etc.) that they will have no choice to listen to you, and more importantly understand how this is going to f*ck things up for you for the rest of the year.

You need to get your girlfriend to go in and state her view point on the matter. And try to find that guy/girl you told that to. If you can prove that they were witnesses then maybe they'll lighten up on you.

So, talk to your woman and that other person. Then talk with your parents. If nothing good comes of it see if you can room with a frined or something and find a small part-time job.
That's all I can tell you now. I don't live in Texas so I really don't know what that place is like. But, mooping around and getting hateful at everyone else isn't gonna help. Someppl don't know how to word advise so they just send a quick "I'm sorry" or nothing at all. But, it's not like all of us are just shunning you or something.

Think of it this way... most people who are caught cheating will make a huge stink and then back off. Since you werent cheating, make a huge stink in a nice way and dont let off. Show them that you are a good student and honest and prove them wrong.
I have been talking to my friend in the class and he is going to testify for me at my second hearing. I can't use my girlfriend in testimony because I am not allowed to bring in anyone from outisde the university. I should call up the localABC, CBS, WB, NBC, and FOX news channels. I also used the fact that I have been a consistant 3.5 GPA student and that I have had no reason for me to cheat in the past and no reason now. Greenkermit, I understand what you are saying. I actually went to other Architectural Firms in Ft. Worth and got applications during lunch. I even talked to the local firm that is owned by the dean of architecture at UTA and got to talk to him, and he is going to look at funds and if there is enough he will offer me a drafting technision spot till I can get back in.
Sounds like you may be on the right track to getting back into school. But the rule on not bringing in anyone outside of the University sounds like it's geared to be stacked against you. Petition the board for an exemption since she is part of your defense. I wish you luck though man.
