I purchased an 03 Vw gti... last june, and I was living at home then, I since moved out, and away to a diff city and college and such. I was doing ok, struggling though only making about 7.75 an hour, at my new job.. then I got fired. Well more like let go because it was slow during the winter..
Being the nice person that my mom is, she took over insurance, car payments as she said till I could get back on my feet. Well I just got a new job, and now i'm wondering if it is worth keeping the gti, or selling it and getting something cheaper till i can get through college.
Cheaper as in a newish car still but lower monthly payment. Current =361$ So I was thinking about picking up an 01-02 7th gen just because I like the looks, and think I could find a used one for pretty cheap??
any opinions? I was thinking 6th gen, but the 7th looks a whole lot better.
sorry about spelling/grammar its late

keep the car man.
the resell value on the euro cars are riduculously low...
my friend just tried to sell his 01gti 40k miles on it, couldnt find anyone.
traded in to dealer for 11500.
i mean you should look around and see before you jump to that decision.
you won't likely to save any money by going the civic route.
i guess ur insurance will be a lot cheaper tho.
juss my 2cents tho.
hope that helps/.
if you can keep it with college keep it. Otherwise you can be like me and all you can afford durring college is a Vic, but don't get me wrong, I get mad compliments on my Vic and I love it. Either way it is a good, it all depends on how tight you want your money to be. If you do decide to go with the vic then Welcome to the site
i say continue the payments with the vw and after your done with all the school n work. you can always pay her back in the future and thank her for her help.
i hate seeing people trading-in their cars to the dealer because they basically steal your money.
yeah you'll have the payments done and over with soon enough .. just stick it out until its completely paid for. The dub will last ya too ... good quality cars
Well first off thanks for the advice. But she doesn't seem happy at all to be paying for it, which of course she shouldn't have to, also its cutting into funds she could spend on herself or bills. (which i rather not be the cause of that)
My main problem is just that I have 1-2 years left of college, which means she would have paid for my car for that long. There isnt really a way to lower my payments, at least not yet.
Still thinking about selling it, selling mods first just to have some spending cash..
Well im in the proces of trying to sell the mods but i have springs/ exhaust(welded on) so id have to pay to get them off and i'm near 0 funds. but yeah that was the plan sell mods, to get money.
