Okay, so I have a piano sitting in my house that nobody even uses. I decided it is time it gets used and that I will have to be the one to use it. Now I have no previous music experience and am probably pretty musically inept. Does anyone have any good resources, online or in the real world that can help me get started. I would appreciate it greatly. So far I have taught myself how to locate A through G keys and the sharps and flats. However, I can not read staff well and am staring to learn it as well.
Thank you,
Matthew

I suggest you pick up some beginners' books at any local music shop and start from there. Even though they are easy, they will teach you the basics. From there, you can go on to scales and other exercises. One thing though, you'll need a lot of time and patience to pick it up, especially if you've never had musical experience or if you are older.
to tell you the truth...get a piano teacher...my mom is one, shes the one that tought me to play and read music...but once you learn to play you have the upper hand in other instruments bceause you will know Bass and Trebel Clef. I was able to pick up violin and saxaphone...and a lot of instruments have the same fingering...like claranet is the same as sax, a few differences but not many...same with the flute.
Music is its own language, and piano is the best way to learn it
