We have been dating now for a year and two months, but have been in the long distance relationship for five months.

105 miles or hour and 45 min (driving CAREFULLY, that is) in traffic it can take about 3 hours. its so worth it tho.

yea its so worth it....shes the love of my life and i couldnt imagine being with anyone more. we are too much alike and we love everything about eachother.....even tho the living situation sux sweaty donkey nuts its def. worth it....the weekends go by so fast tho but yes im very much inlove and definitlly !
I am proof long distance relationships CAN work. I had been seriously dating this girl for 1.5 years during college and she really wanted to spend a semester abroad. I was (and still am) crazy about her, but I couldn't go abroad because of certain class issues. Anyway, here are the stats:

After our semesters were over, I was able to fly over there and we took a 2-week trip around Greece and Italy. -how much did u see one another? maybe one weekend a month
-how long did it last or is it lasting? it lasted 11 months
it just doesn't work out...the long distance relationships with me...cause i started developing a crush on another guy...it wasn't fair to him so we broke up
my girlfriend and i were 900 miles apart from West Point, NY to Greeneville, TN. She is going to school in Albany, NY now so we are only about an hour apart. we see each other about every other weekend now where as before we only saw each other 1 every 2 months. we have been dating for 2.5 years now. she's the best thing thats ever happened to me and would never give her up for anything. we made it for a year without realll seeing each other so we can make it through anything.

What ever the distance from charlotte, NC to Ft. Lauderdale FL is.
Saw her for like 2 weeks, then developed the long distance relationship....she planned to move here and go to college close by...but it never worked out...It lasted about 2-4 weeks i dont remember

-wednesday and friday thru sunday
-almost 3 months
-she lives where i used to live, and im up at school.. but soon to change when this semester is over. we're both gonna goto the same school n get an apartment

She was gone for 5 months like that and now she has moved closer to home (my home). Now she lives 75 miles (1hr 15min) from me, and i see her 3-4 times a week.
We have been together for 2 1/2 years now.

Laurel and I started our relationship like this, and it'll be another 7 months before we'll be living closer together. After that, we'll be MAYBE 15 minutes apart. (She'll be starting school in Seattle at that time and I live very close). We've had nothing short of an amazing relationship thus far. . taking it slow and enjoying everything about each other. When we live closer together we'll have to see how that changes things. . .if at all. Personally, I can see our relationship only getting better . . . we don't see each other that much as it is. . . so even if she's busy with both work and school, I KNOW we'll still have more time together than we do presently.
I'm really happy for all of you who have worked those things out. I've been busy wasting my time in love with some girl way too far away to be liking that much. She says she cares for me a lot, but I'm finding that so hard to believe, she completely means everything to me, but she's not the kind of girl that would be able to handle a relationship like that. I'd have done anything for her.
In conclusion, I think that relationships like that really depend on the both of you to make it work, if either of you don't want it enough, it's a waste. I'm just bitter at the world and am sick of trying to convince myself that things work out in the end. I wish i could hate her.
Ok, OT, sorry.
I lived in Germany 2 years and we waited for each other all that time, maybe dumb because whe I finally did get back, and she was then overseas and I got to Texas she didn't want me there anymore-it works and we were determined but, she changed and came back a different person. Very sad-if you can do it good luck-
I was seeing this girl from Toronto and we'd try to meet up every 3 weeks or so.
LDR's are hard because I had my own life here and she had her's over there and the bottom line was that my whole life didn't revolve around her so it didn't last too long.
Plus, when a guy needs it, he needs it. I hate feeling bad about scamming on the DL so I'll never be geographicaly close to my huns.

- the only downside is (and i dont even consider this a down side, but...) that her rents are not used to her having a guy over as much as i am, but oh well for htem i lolve this girl and i am not giving her up because if it wasnt for her i would not even be around right now to write this post so i will be with her for a long time to come!
My long distance relationship with my girl has been the best thing that ever happened to me. We got together about 1 month before she went to college 130 miles away (2-21/2 hour drive). With trust, these types of relationships are the shit!!!!
Let me break it down:
- See each other every week or 2, aka you have time do hang with friends, do what YOU gotta do
- No pressure to hang out all the time if you just wanna chill out by yourself.
- You get more shit done cuz they're not around to occupy all of your time
- Keeps the relationship new. Seeing my girl again after 2-3 weeks is like seeing her for the first time again.
We been together for 2 years, 4 months now. Longest we've been apart is 3 weeks, and the longest we've been in the same city has only been like a month or 2 over the summer/winter cuz she has to take summer classes also lol!!

on the phone all the time but it works out ok... planning on goin to optometry school up there and she will be too so hope it all works out and i get accepted

reading what you all have to say has moved me believes in rather this would work or not, and it's quite upsetting. she said she likes me a lot (we dont believe in the word love for dating) and she also said that she won't expect me to be there every week, and that she mentioned she is low maintenance, lol... well.. only time will tell i guess
