I need to vent

I am in such a bad mood right now. Alot of stuff is going on at my job right now, and my group is being screwed. The Vice President of the department came to meet with us today to tell us that we have to start working extra hours each week. A total of 10 to 12 extra hours each week withough being compensated for it. I was not very happy about that, and I do not plan on working those hours. I work 7 to 3 now and I work everyday through lunch. I sit at my desk, eat my lunch and do my work. I dont get paid very well as it is, and I work very hard for this company. I have seen numerous people get promoted but none of them have ever been in my group. This place is like slave labor, and I am tired of it. My friend Rob told us to go down to HR to ask about this and to see what can be done, and they said they already knew about it. The HR department in my company is horrible. We have complained to them before and nothing has ever been done. I am soooo frustrated and stressed out right now....I just want to scream.
Thanks for letting me vent.

you seem to have enough time on your hands to be a moderator...

JK - that sucks dude. Is it even legal for them to not compensate you for that? if you refuse, will you just be fired?

hang in there bro
a lot of people have crappy jobs, the key is to not let it stress you out.
i currently work in a company that has it's HR dept based in another city like 600 miles away. and the dept consists of only 1 lazy ass beotch.
everything has to be done through email, and if there is an error like with my paycheck or something, i wait a long time for it to get fixed.
but i try not to let it stress me to the point of going postal on everyone at work.
even though if you did go postal it would probably be amusing to us viewers of the news. j/k

anyway, try to use company time to look for a better job.

Follow the RASTAMAN and "turn your stumbling rock into a stepping stone."

I have been looking for a job, for about a year now. Bush is an idiot. The job market still stinks now. I wish I could be detailing cars now, but my business is closed down for the winter. I wont be starting until the spring.

We are meeting with the head of human resources friday morning at 10am. Hopefully something will be done about this

i am not 100% sure about this but in my business class last semester i think i read something about if you work more than 40 hours a week and you are not compensated for the extra hours then it's like illegal or something. i'm not for sure because it was last semester but you might want to check up on that.

That is what I heard. I need to look into that. I will email my brother, he is a lawyer so he should know.

Right now I am so mad. I cannot believe that they are doing this to us.....again. I sent a long email to my boss telling him what I felt about Marc's meeting and he wrokte me back some long bullsh*t email that we have to do it for the company. Who is he to talk, he makes $30,000 more than I do a year...He isnt married and he lives in Reston, Virginia....What a Wanker

maybe you do have to do it for the company but it's not worth it unless yo get full compensation for your extra hours put in. one piece of advice is take care of it asap because my brother is a prison guard and they did the same thing to him until he went and got my uncle "the lawyer" and all of the sudden the prison is like oh yeah you were supposed to be getting paid overtime. some company's will try to get out of paying for anything. but anyways good luck with all that.

Yup. It will be taken ASAP. I am not working those extra hours, and I know the one guy I work with wont do it either. He is praying that they let us go and give us unemployment. I dont think they will do that though.

As for the third person of my group. She is going to be a mess. She is an older woman with a husband and kids and she really doesnt need to work. She is a very good employee, and this place doesnt deserve her dedication. She doesnt know yet what is going on but she is supposed to meet with the vice president this afternoon, I am sure the shiet is going to hit the fan soon.

7-3 is a long day. I work 8-5 and I normally get in at 7ish.

I don't get OT pay or time in lieu either d00d so I feel your pain.
