Hey Zzyzx for the other thread about the bolt ons I said "why does a car with cold air intake have better fuel economy? Wouldn't that mean there is a leaner burn? Wouldn't a leaner burn imply more air?" Then he cold air is more dense "Then I said so there is more air since you can pack more of it since its more dense"
1,"why does a car with cold air intake have better fuel economy?"
Simple, The engine is exerting less effort to suck in the same ammount of air = Better Effecncy = better fuel economy.
"Wouldn't that mean there is a leaner burn? Wouldn't a leaner burn imply more air?"
No, because the engine isnt sucking in more air, its just using less energy to suck in the same ammount of air. On naturally asperated engine, the Down stroke (with the intake valves open) Literally sucks air in to the combustion chamber. if you restrict the air flow, then the engine is forced to use more energy to suck. (Example, try to breath through a straw, you can still inhale the same amount of air as when you are normally breathing out your mouth, but it takes a lot more effort in order to do it.)
"Then I said so there is more air since you can pack more of it since its more dense"
Yes, Cold air is more dence. Meaning there are more O2 molecules per volume of air. so you arnt packing in more air, there is simply more Oxygen molecules per volume of air.

"I know Solo only comes one minute at a time, but what an intense, non-stop, fast-forward car control exercise minute it is. Sure, the velocity is higher in road racing, but inside the car it is slow-motion in comparison. In Solo, the turns come like machine-gun rounds. "

Thanks for the heads up. So same amout of air but more concentration of 02 molecules.
Have any of you guys ever driven a front wheel drive car with a LSD transmission?
Nope, but I have it on good athorety that the Mugen LSD should be avoided... as it does not like to have one of the drive wheels come off the ground (shatter city!).
