Went to my first autocross yesterday

I went to my first autocross yesterday at the Wyoming Valley mall in Wilkes-Barre PA. I was nervous as hell before my first run but I had a shitload of fun after I got over it. My first run was 1:07, 2nd: 57.x, 3rd: 51.x. After lunch my times got much better after watching how people ran the course, getting more confident, and not bogging the car off the line. I don't know what my 4th run was, but my 5th was 48.x, 6th: 48.x, and 7th was 47.772. It was crappy compared to everyone else but I'm happy for my first time out, given that I went from poking through the course to improving 20 seconds and didn't have any cone penalties. Here's the obligatory picture (me staging).

PS Does anyone else here live in the eastern half of PA?

Cool, Great improvement! 20 seconds worth of improvement aint bad.

Keep it up, more seat time will do wonders for your times.

NICE JOB MAN!! That's impressive! 20 seconds...damn...I'd be the CO CHAMPION if I could shave 20 sec.'s off my times, lol. imp:

BTW....BassKadett lives in PA, and he's been wanting to get into AutoX, but he's kinda chicken. Maybe you could hit him up, and he could watch you for a few runs. I'll PM him a link to this thread.

Again...GOOD JOB!!!

Well the next one that I'm going to is May 30 (memorial day). It's at Luzerne County Community College (off of I-81 in Wilkes-Barre). You might be able to find on closer to you, so here's the regional breakdown for the SCCA. Otherwise, the FAQ's that everyonr else linked to do a good job of explaining what's up. Really, the hardest part of groing autocrossing is showing up for the first time. After that it's addicting.

Thanks for the praise everyone, I'm looking for more improvement as I get more seat time and maybe even get a good set of tires to help even the odds (the stock firestones suck).
