Need some racer's opinions

i know this should probably be in the suspension page but i wanted to get just the racers opinions. ok so i have a guy that can get me the tein flex for the ep for $1180. i know this is a great deal but, he said they are on back order till god only knows when. so i was starting to look else where. cause my stock shocks arn't long for this world, and i don't know if i can spare that kinda cash (full time college kid). my other thoughts mainly because of price are the D2's, there is a group buy for $850. or the Hayame (sp?) for $650. i drive my car evey day and i race on the weekends. mostly auto-x but trying to get out to some track days this year. what do you guys think???? I dont know what the Valving is like on the Hayame or D2s.... So I would get some ground controls, with a custom spring rate (or other adjustible spring) and a set of konis. but thats just me. it may cost more, but you'll have more flexibility (by being able to specify what spring rate you want). or if you dont want to change springs just yet. getting the Konis alone will vastly improve your handling.

i didn't want to get the koni's because i don't wanna have to cut up my stock struts. and the dealer for the d2s said that they can do any spring rates. i don't know about the valving but they say they are 32 way adjustible.

Sure they are 32 way adjustible, but how much diferent is setting 1 vs setting 32. and are you adjusting Compression, Rebound or both.

as far as cutting up the stock struts.. Do you plan on ever going back to stock? if not then its no big deal. and Koni Yellows are probably the best performance shock out there for the $$$.

not tring to desway you from getting the D2's Just giving you a possilbly cheeper option that may give you better performance.

yeah i was also wondering what the diff. is between the settings but it never tells you that, even with the tein flex whats the diff. between 1 and 16. just out of curiosity how much would koni's and good springs cost?? i have goldline drop springs but they are crap. also i have heard there are disadvantages to going with a sleeve coilover.

SLEEVE Coilovers are OK!!! lol (Edited to not look retarded, BTW...I didn't know they were that good. I personally don't like them.)

I have the Neuspeed/Koni set-up, and I LOVE THEM! The koni's give just the right amount of adjustablity to be competitave (sp?) and the Neuspeeds are stiff enough for track days.

My set-up cost me about $550.00 for the Koni's and $150 for the Neuspeed RACE springs. WELL worth the $$ in my opinion. imp:

^^ I have to despute that claim on not getting Sleeve coilovers for racing. In sts, all of the top drivers are using Ground Control Sleved coilovers (Custom Spring rates) with Konis (all are runing 89 Si civics too, and I've raced against them). In road racing, Sleved Coilovers are VERY common and well used.

If you do get sleeves then GCs are the ones to get for racing. the GC/Koni combo is very common in Autox. I didn't get the koni's because if something happened to my suspension(blow a shock), I would have nothing to fall back on. I wouldn't trust D2 or Hayame for autox due to their lack of proven reliability and strength, but that is just me. I would wait until you can get the flex or get the gc/koni combo.
