Figured I’d stop by and introduce myself… seeing I’ll probably be asking everyone here for a ton of help. My wife’s got a 2002 EX that is BONE STOCK… I mean, besides the license plate frame, it looks just like it did when she bought it brand new. It’s silver with the factory spoiler and I think that’s the only option on it. She’s always loved the car, but now I think she’s getting bored with it and talking about getting a new car….. “I love my Civc, but I just want something different”, and every time we get serious about looking at cars she gets cold feet about getting rid of her Civic. And geeesh, have you seen the price of new cars lately???? Anyway, her car has less then 60k miles on it and looks brand new; she only drives it to work ‘cause when we go out together, we’re in my Magnum. She’s talked about customizing her car from day one, but has never gotten serious about it.
So here’s the deal. A few months ago her aunt door dinged the crap out her right front quarter panel and we’re going to take in to have repaired in a few weeks. Also, the tint is starting to bubble on the rear window and we’re going to get that repaired as well. My plan is this…. (my wife has no idea how long it would take to do the repairs, so I can buy myself some time.) I’m going to give her car “A Make Over”, as she would call it, while it’s being repaired. I am a complete newbie when it comes to Hondas, I know squat about them. On as scale of 1-10 for auto mechanic skills, I’m probably a 4 or a 5, so I’ll be hittin’ everyone up for some suggestions as I’m knockin’ this out.
This is “kinda” my list so far (definitely subject to change):
17” Wheels/New Tires
New Hood ? – Maybe
New Front Grill
New Projector Lights?? She loves the look of them, I’m going to have to do some research…most of them look really cheap.
Updated Rear Lights
Wind Deflector for the sunroof??? I don’t know.. she’s always wanted one, but I hate em. I guess I can take it off if it sucks.
Update Audio System
New Shift Knob and Pedals – Nothing to crazy on the interior; both of us like to keep it simple and aren’t too flashy.
Performance – I’ll be asking for a ton of help here. Not sure what I want to do here; I don’t want to get too crazy. I assume I’ll do some sort of header back exhaust system with a CAI (no idea what kind). We both definitely like more of a rumble rather than a high pitched sound that I hear out of a lot of supped up imports…..so I’m open to suggestions. Also, I really don’t know what you do on this car to compensate for the increased airflow… need to look into that.
I’ll probably find lots of other stuff on here that I want to do as well. I’m think I’m through with mods on my Magnum, so beside my wife gettin’ her Civic fixed up…. It will give me something to do as well.
My wife’s kind of a Skull n’ Cross bones type girl. She loves any car that’s “mean” looking. She digs the black and brushed metal look as opposed to any color of chrome. So if anyone knows of any Civic that fits that bill, I’d appreciate you PM’ing me a link so I can get some ideas. Thanks in advance and I’ll start a before and after thread with lots of pics before long.
Thanks in advance!!!
Kendall

Thanks guys... I've learned more 'bout her EX on this site in 2 days that I have in the 7 years we've owned it. Can't wait to get started; I'm in the process of rounding up parts right now and hope to get started in the next couple of weeks. She has no idea that I'm up to this... should be fun. I'll be sure to post some pics along the way. Right now it looks the same as the day we brought it home. It was and has been her only new car... she loves it, but starting to get a little bored with it.
