Headlamps burning out every 6 months or so.

'01 civic, those 9003 H4 bulbs. For some reason, I only get six months out of them. I'm careful not to touch the bulbs, the seals are watertight, and I don't run my lights during the day. Any clues?

I usually get
these these
off of Amazon.

How exactly are the bulbs failing? Glass distortion? Filament broken out? Filament melted?

Wildass guess, this is the problem. Try buying local, that way there are fewer box kickers involved in shipping. You could try different brands.

6 months is sure not long. On my CRV, the bulb had a LL or something similar at the end that the replace did not have. I kept questioning maker and they finally said it stood for long life and it was only provided to the mother ship since that is how they specked their order. I rarely do this but Ebay had them from China for a $1.00 . included shipping. My high and low beam are the same number. So I ordered 4. Since I never use high beam, I switched them and put the $1.00 ones in the high. I kid you not, they look exactly like the bulb I took out except the LL but the ones at Autozone and Walmart did not have it either. That was two years ago and they still work. Ezone, please do not tell me a horror story about a $1.00 headlight. Could be just because it's a Civic. I'm over on the CRV forum and you are lucky to see a problem a month???

CRVs are like the energizer bunny...they just run and run. gas and a new set of tires ever now and then.
