Retrofit question

Kinda new at this thing but i was reading posts about HID retrofits in stock headlight housings and was curious if it would be possible to use a universal HID projector fog light kit as the projector and housing for the headlight retrofit. Not sure if there is any difference in the refection and refraction design of the fog light projectors and headlight projectors. Thanks in advance for any input.
FYI: Attempting to retrofit headlights on 89 civic hatch.

Just realized i posted this in 7th Gen civic section. Brain not functioning. :-(

short answer.....no. i have Blazer 894 projector fogs. they are very wide, but short distance projection. i also have TSX projectors retro'd into TYC housings and the TSX projectors are almost as wide as the fogs, but project 5x further down the road. both combined is sweet and i'll never go back to halogens, but the fogs alone performing as low beam head lights would be horrible.

Re: Retrofit question

yeah like he said, its two completely different optic patterns. lo beam projectors have a bright hotspot at the top of the cutoff, then the brightness falls off as you move down. this is so that you have even light distribution on the ground. brighter light shines further away, and dimmer light shines closer, and this gives you the even spread of light. fog lights do not have this pattern, only a uniform beam of light that will give you bright foreground and hardly any distance.

Re: Retrofit question

I got a set of the blazer fogs to (I got them from you right electric?)

They are a projectors but the distance is short and the beam isnt as intense as what a real headlight HID projector will give you. I think they are just projectors that are similar the projectors in the TYC headlights, meaning they are not HID specific. Agreed electric?
