Re: should i ever bother with ebay fogs?

The fogs i just installed for a buddie came from Ebay and heres the results:

Arrived in box with x1 broken foglight
*He contacted the seller, got x1 in return for the broken one

Went to install it ,all went well in behind the front bumper...
Got the fogs with brackets on, wired with the Fog-harness and Sub-harness,
so that went well.

Got under the dash to find the Switch harness was the wrong one!
Missing x2 wires that plug into the main connector junction. He is still looking for the proper switch-harness right now, Hes looking at auto wreckers, Ebay again, etc...

Just make sure to look at the SELLERS REP, cuz 98% positive feedback aint shit! even that 2% could be over 50-100 neg ones!

Re: should i ever bother with ebay fogs?

I installed mine almost a year ago- they are awesome, no problems at all. Yeah, the switch it comes with doesnt work, but pick up one from autozone and your fine.

And if you wanna figure out the amount of negative reps... (1.00-feedback score in decmil format)Xnumber of sales

Re: should i ever bother with ebay fogs?

I just used the fog housing and part of the harness. I just bought my own switch and relays to finish the rest of the harness. Not bad for less than $50

Re: should i ever bother with ebay fogs?

hmmm its quite tempting to go on the cheaper side, since money is an issue, OEM fog lights are 200+... pretty risky...
can anyone direct me to users who they've purchased succesfully from?

Re: should i ever bother with ebay fogs?

in some cases like the FG-series civics the switch has a square hole in the dash for it to snap into, you could drill a hole into the stock plate which is in there from the factory with some cheezy on/off switch, but i prefer the look of OEM, so.....
You cant just buy the OEM switch from pep boyz?

as for my last post....this wasnt about the switch anyhow!
he recieved an incorrect Switch-harness! Without it the FOGS are USELESS until he gets another harness!
and....you cannot just buy the x1 harness from the kit through Honda, In order to get the harness you have to buy the entire Foglight kit from them or... try and find another switch-harness somewhere else like i mentioned before through an autwrecker, another Ebay transaction ,soforth.

OEM is 200+... would you think they are less likely to crack if say i hit a rock or a small rodent?

Re: should i ever bother with ebay fogs?

why not just make your own harness? I didnt use an OEM switch, but The Source/Radio Shack has a nice "automotive switch" that lights up when its on, but still looks OEM-ish.. I didnt bother with the ebay crap wiring

Re: should i ever bother with ebay fogs?

i had the oem fogs, they sucked. the wiring was fine and everything, they just looked like they were not even turned on. so what a waste of $ and now im using projector fogs from ebay which are at least putting 2x more light all over. i can give you pics and a link to them if youre interested in swapping out the reflector. otherwise, just get the ebay ones, then buy a new harness for $15 from suvlights.com and use your own switch, or even cleaner no switch, wire the relay harness to your park lights so they come on when you have your lights on.
