So, drill a hole, run the wire behind the paneling and then... out through the boot to the ignition...?

And for the back doors, run the wire through the boot to... where?

i know they arn't l.e.d.'s but i installed 12v pilot lights in my door handle http://www.action-electronics.com/linrose.htm it was real simple and i wired em into my turn signals/parking lights so they act as my side markers/turn signals. they were super easy to install all i needed to do was get a 1/2'' drill bit and drill a hole thru the door handle then pop em in and wire them up. i also painted the inside of the door handle with reflective spraypaint to brighten it up.

uh i didn't actually do the door leds but i have those red marker lights inside the door. Same wiring applies though. You need to wire directly to dome light for them to work like they should.

retro is an unknown quantity at this point
Hey Nick, do you have pictures of how the lights look in your door handle? I'm interested to see how it looks as a turn signal/side marker. BTW what colour is your car?

*BUMP* for an OLD thread.....

Here's mine:

Worked for several days to get these up and running, busted more than a few fuses....

But I got the under-doorhand-LED kit done

(Pardon the rain)

Side view of undercar neons and LED's under the door handles:

Back view of the same:

Another side view:

Interior shot of the dash and LED safety switches that control:
1. Undercar neons
2. LED door handles
3. Underseat neons

if you hook them up directly to the dome lights wouldnt they turn if you turn your dome light on? If so in some states you might run into trouble with the po po if you decide to turn your dome lights on while driving and just happen to pass a cop.

That ^ is the reason I didn't do it. That and the fact that they aren't on for that long, unless you have your dome light on. I wanted them connected to a switch
