blackening out the headlights

hey for all the people that used the DIY and blackened out their headlights, what kind of paint did you use? and did you sand it down or just paint over the chrome? To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

Sand the chrome ..Its like anything else is you want paint to stick then sand with some 1000 grit period..
Also Krylon plastic paint is excellent..
You dont really need high heat paint because the bulbs are not near the plastic ...

If someone is a noob then sand cuz people tend to put on more paint then less and it will run for sure ..The chrome is very slippery..

Also you want the job to last

i didnt sand either...all i did was get some plastic(acrylic) enamel paint in black as my primer so it would stick to the chrome...than i used high temp paint over that and it worked perfect for me...i cured the paint in the oven so it would be permenant...i only sanded with 1500 grit when i got some fish eyes in the paint on my first coat than i wet sanded than i finished the spraying and curing
