Thanks, intoxcivicted. Some of this stuff was just too hard to find, so I organized it into a site with help from the other DX/HX guys.

fine02civicgurl...ok...
The models with a cup holder cover are different than the models without a cover...because the area where the switch for the lights goes is smaller on the model WITH the cover. The switch that comes with the lights was designed for the 01 and is simply too big to fit.
I have an 01 which has no cover, so the install was simple. The guys with a cover have run into this problem and bought another switch. If you search, you'll find threads asking how to wire up the oem honda switch. I can't help with that, because I haven't done it myself, nor have I assimilated the info into the DIY.

but im not understanding what the cup holder has to do w/whether or not it fits right. is it just saying if u have a model civic w/the cup holder, that means its different and wont fit. or does the cup holder actually not let it fit.
'because if thats the case, i'll remove the cover to the cup holder...

but i dont think im understanding right.
is it a pain in the butt since it wont fit right?

my dad is very mechanical and can fix ANYTHING, so is it possible to 'get around' or is it "it wont fit, no solution"

i think he is saying that the difference in the 01 model and 02+ models in the case of interior is that the 02+ models have a cover over the cupholders. since the mounting place for the foglight switch is right above the cup holders, the design has changed. SO IN CONCLUSION:

- the repica foglights from ebay or tornactive are designed for 01 civics which means the switch that comes with the replicas are bigger than 02+ ones.

- what you need to do if you decide you want to buy the replicas and have a 02+ civic is that you need to buy the oem foglight switch for 02+ civics and use that in accordance with the foglight kit and do NOT use the switch from the kit.

Look at the pic below. See the switch? On your car with the cover, the hole where the switch goes is too small for the switch that comes with the kit. Therefore, you need a switch that fits from Honda. The problem is that the back of the honda switch probably isn't gonna look like the switch that came with the lights and will be wired differently.

You'll need to ask someone who's wired the oem honda switch to tell you how to hook it up, because I haven't done it. If someone can give me that info, I'll add it to the DIY.

It may fit vertically (upright) if you install it on the left of the steering wheel. That is, if you have a spot to put it. You'll also need to run the wires on the drivers side through the firewall, instead of the passenger side like I show in the DIY. There is a grommet somewhere on the drivers side that you can use.

you can try but its just a tad too small to fit the switch, i guess you can cut up your panel but i doubt you want to cut up your pretty interior.
