Will LED bulbs turn you hyper?

On my old Saturn I put 3157 White LEDs into my parking / turn signal lamps.

They look great when driving, but when I hit my signal they would flash wicked fast. Basically to fix them I would have had to have bought some part for like $30 to fix the issue.

My question is whether this is the same for the Civic. I would love to put LEDs in my parking lamps but I dont want to have this hyper blinker effect from it.

Yes mine are hyperblinkers now (I replaced ALL my bulbs with LED). You can simply place a resistor inline to counteract this. I forget the resistance value though, just check the resistance on the stock bulbs and rig up a resistor value similar to that. The thing is LED's have next to NO resistance so the car thinks the bulb is blown.

Hyperblinkers are like turn signals on crack.

I never really liked them.

My LEDs are all burning out. It is happening fast too because I just bought them in Septemer. Never will buy them again. They look good, but the lifetime is unbelievably bull. I bought them from autoluminations.com. Maybe it was just a bad place to buy them from. I bought them for the dome, interior, and all the external lights. A few of them started strobing or just died out. The blinkers will hyper blink, but like others said, they can be fixed with a resistor.

LMAO

I agree that they are like turn signals on CRACK, but I DO like them, and I had planned on doing a mod to the fuse to get this effect, however, now I might just use LED's.

Good thread!

I thought LED's would last longer and have about 2x's the brightness of original bulbs?

TRUE STORY : I put led bulbs on my 2002 civic both parking and turn signal on the back only, and yes that made them blink wicked in front and rear. But after about a month my cars automatic transmission started jurkin' the take 1st and 2nd gear horrible. Make long story short, I took it to the dealer I got a new trans still had problems, took it back, got new 'cpu' still had problems. It turns out it was the bulbs, too much juice for 'cpu' {Computer}. I didnt pay a thing, All Under Warranty. I havent had a problem yet.

Dammit, this thread jinxed me! Last night I found out I blew a stop light LED bulb (it's strobing now) and my left sidemarker bulb didn't light up!
Fixed the sidemarker one tho - cheap sidemarker socket had come loose. Now I'm afraid to post anything lest something else go horribly wrong.
My electrical system is still running great, and no noticeable CPU problems - even my milage is still good. But then again, my car is a stick shift, so I can't make a direct comparison.

lol, Ill just stick with hyper white bulbs then. I had a good set from can you believe it APC.

They were Super White Super Street Series, so they were a darker blue but came out a nice white color.

Here is the comparison on my Saturn, the left is the super street series, and the right is the hyper white.

final product
