It's all about the focusing of the beam. I don't know the specifics of your setup, but if it is possible, move the HID bulb back farther away from the projector lens, closer to the parabolic reflector in order to focus the beam farther ahead.

-that's a really good picture BTW, the one from behind the car.

Which projectors do you have, TYC or Halo? Im thinking even if the ceilica's HID's are brighter, im sure you have noticed a signifigant difference from the reg halogen to HID's in your projectors right?

Those headlights need to be aligned properly!!!!! Your right headlight is way too high and your left one is way too low. Also your beam patterns are on top of one another. They need to be spaced further apart. That is why the light out put is so poor. That and because yours have a higher Kalvin rating then the ones in the Celica. The higher the Kalvin rating the lower the Lumens (light out put). 4500K owns 5500K

Do a bit of adjusting and you will notice a world of a difference.

One more thing. Your friends need to be adjusted as well. His are a tad bit too high. There is way too much glare coming off those lights.

Here are the 2 pics I took of my TYC projector headlights with H1 Ichikoh Velias HID I imported straight from Japan. It's 4300K and quality is in par with Catz/Bellof and Raybrig. This company makes HID kit for Lemans and also created the Subaru STI headlights and HID system.

I was going to do the OEM projector lens retrofit but resources for the parts are not that good since I'm located in Australia so I decided to just install good quality HID kit into TYC.

Beam pattern from inside the car isn't so desirable but my goal which is to have cool looking HID lights without blinding oncoming traffic is accomplished.

Let's make this thread a good discussion place for people with HID and also those who are looking to buy one.

It all boils down to... If you want the best beam pattern and color... you have to get OEM projectors and D2S bulbs... the TYC projectors ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR HID

i would have to agree, but the beam coiming out of B390LU's projectors is by far better thatn that coming out of my aftermarket bulbs in stock housing.
